Hey guys/gals,

I've been having an intermittent fault with the SRS system over the past few months, where the SRS fault indicator will display at random then go away when you press down on the carpet under the drivers seat where the plug is. How long it stays gone for is completely random.

I recently changed the whole interior over, thinking that this might actually resolve the issue. When I first turned the car to the ON position with the new seats fitted, the SRS light illuminated for its regular period then went out, beauty I thought. Upon starting the engine however, the SRS Light re-illuminated and has since not gone out.

I've checked the connections, wiggled everything that can be moved to see if it's simply a loose wire or something causing an intermittent issue with both seats, even put the old seats back in to no avail.

I remember back when I first had this fault I had the diagnostics computer hooked up and run a scan, it returned a fault with the drivers SRS airbag connection. What I'd like to do is run the scan again and see what shows up, if it's something different or the same fault as before.

If anyone has any insight or has access to a diag computer, it'd be very much appreciated if you could help me out!

Cheers,
Lugo.

I too have had a similar issue in my KL. It's only happened twice however & both times it's been resolved by a similar method to yours.

The fact that it's now happening to you on both sets of seats would imply it's a car issue rather than a seats issue. I'd be checking the wiring into the plug itself - that's where I reckon my issue lies.

If you need I have 2 KL drivers seats here; you're welcome to drop over & we can check them in the car? If neither solves the issue, you'll know it's not the seats as these ones here are currently working fine.

Al, thanks for that, might give that a shot when I'm down at your place shortly. I might try changing the passenger seat over too before hand though, I focused my attention on the drivers side and didn't think it could be the passenger triggering the fault.

Thanks Mal, I will keep that in mind.
