It's not a Mitsubishi, but I don't think it's supposed to be there anyway.
It's on a Lexus SC400 that they threw 22's on, and sadly, cut the wheel well. Not mine, it's my friends, car. The 22's are gone, because they sold the car to my friend who was in need of a car asap.
I thought they were just to lift the car, but I just want some verification. Like it's the springs last resort or something(I doubt.)

Sorry if I really shouldn't post stuff non-mitsubishi, I just know how helpful you guys are. :)

K, well some googling yielded an answer, and she told me a bit more too, that he used to have the car loaded full of people (also when he had the 22's), so it's safe to take them off possibly? What's the worse that'll happen the car bottom out right? I don't wanna give her false advice so I wanna learn as much as I can.

You used to be able to buy specially shaped pieces of hard rubber that went between sagged coils to give the same effect.....basically you used them to make sagged springs "as good as new".

I don't know what it is but i am terrified of it.
The center of the coil looks warped, It is practically horizontal compared to the rest of the spring.

Had a chat about it in my office and thinking they are trying to prop up a sagged spring to make it 'as good as new' like Hako said.
Or they chopped the spring to lower the car but were too cheap to replace with when they stuffed it up.

I wonder what would happen if that let go hitting a dip at 100 on the freeway.

Take them off....it was just a cheap stupid thing to do,to raise it up to fit the 22's that were on it.

Holy Jesus :| spring compressors are pretty scary to use.. reverse spring compressors with the entire vehicles load on them is even scarier!! They would have been fitted to stop the 22s from bottoming out on the wheel wells.

I don't like the look of them... If they've held up this long, they should be sturdy enough, but new suspension would probably be a better way to fix it than some clamps.

Thanks guys - she says it rides harder than hell. I'm guessing cause of those. I'll tell her to remove them and see how it rides, you should see the car the guy totally abused it.
The wheel well was cut to fit the 22's right, so they dont even roll the fender or anything they just leave it like that, and he doesn't know how to make anywhere close to a circle. The back is rolled however very badly :P
Oh and the back springs are even worse, the two (ill call them spacers) are literally sitting right next to each other. I'll note this is on all four sides.

Only some of us, but I shouldn't say "us" lol. Many different kinds of people here.

Haha ok, I mean people from the continent of America are insane! Nobody on this side of Planet Earth would have thought about making something so dangerously dodgy...

Oh, yes. Haha.
I actually did see one of those in a google image search. Personally I'd go with the round black rubber spacer if I wanted to do something like that. But I don't wanna lift the car. I wanna put maybe 18's and drop it. A lot like this car:

Gorgeous photoshopping right there. I'd seriously love to have it just like that.

On another note, yes we are crazy! lol

I think their actual use is to clamp coils together to lower a car, but here are used in reverse to raise a car.
22" rims on a car probably worth less than the tires... Some racial stereotypes really spring to mind considering this is in the US.

@spetz Haha, yes you guessed it. :P
I wouldn't put 22's on my car, the biggest (and this is a strong maybe) is 20's. And I haven't seen any, though I really haven't looked all that much. The 18's in my previous post look good.
But I don't want low-profile tires, I want at least a few inches of meat on the tire.
I would also go for coilovers instead of that.

On the Verada/Diamante even 19" look pretty good. Any bigger I think is starting to look a bit like a clown car, but the type of rim makes a huge difference.
Which state are you from?

I'm near Chico, California. - if the city matters, just in there to notify really where i am.
There might be a pic floating around on the forum of my car. I'll reupload and throw a link in my siggy, that way you can see it if you like.

What's your personal opinion on rims? I was thinking black with a bit of chrome, to match the car.
Then also the Volk RE30 rims in that link, except not too sure about that with the black/green sparkle paint that came with the car.

A while ago I couldn't stand that look, now I want it. :P

Crikey, be careful if taken those off yourself. The tension those things might be under could be horrendous.

Yea when I was telling her, that her boyfriend should do it and that he should be careful and jack the car up especially.
