Hi Guys,

Two weeks ago, replaced my leads and rocker cover gaskets, and since then, the front bank passenger side lead has popped off on two occasions :kb: . They're Top Gun leads and its only that cylinder that does it. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is occurring and a way to rectify it?

Thanks!
Dann

Is the plug tight enough?

Have you got access to another lead? Try swapping just the offending lead to see if the lead itself is the issue?

Is there any signs of oil in there? Is the seal in pinched/twisted/crooked and the pcv lines blocked, causing pressure build up in the rocker covers and that leads seal is the weak spot? How far does it pop off, all the way out or just comes loose from the spark plug?

I haven't checked the plug's tightness, but they were replaced recently (early March) and were tight then (not overtight though), and silly me chucked the old leads out :( (something I don't normally do, specifically for this reason, but the whole job was rushed..)

There are signs of oil in there (although I replaced the tube seals recently, and I'm sure (see hope..) it was installed correctly) . I didn't check the PCV lines when I did the gaskets, I did check the valve though and it rattled freely. The lead didn't completely come out, it was just slightly raised, just enough to be free of the plug and be noticed visually.

It might be the lead isnt a good fit. See if it does it with stock ones if poss

Just an addendum and solution to this problem:

In the past fortnight, the lead started popping off daily, almost every time the car was driven. This included a trip to Mackay and back (and refitting the lead every time I refuelled). Finally I got around to investigating further, and started by replacing the blow-by hose on the passenger side between the two rocker covers - that didn't fix it. Next, I replaced the PCV valve and it seems to have solved the issue.
I took the front rocker cover off, re-seated the tube seals (they were fine anyway), cleaned out the passenger side spark plug tube - which was covered with oil, and the spark plug was dripping with oil when I took it out. Replaced spark plug with a new one and re-installed the rocker cover.
The problem with letting the issue go as long as I did is that the lead for that plug was that oil effected the sealant around the boot on the lead has seperated and is now moving around - this will be replaced soon (has now been replaced with a intact lead from a wreck)

Thanks to those who contributed :)
