I will be rebuilding the auto transmission, my current trans has 380,xxx on it and has started slipping.
I have found a place local which will install a reconditioned trans and tweak the "TPI" sensor (or chip) to make it respond quicker, kickdown quicker etc.
Does anyone know much about tweaking the TPI sensor and is there anything else you can do to get more out of the auto box?
On a second note, those of you who turbo your magna's/ work them etc, what do you do to strengthen your trans/ gearbox?
Thanks Brad

You can put an LSD in to make your diff alot stronger but not much for the gears as far as i know. Generally an auto trans should have a transmission cooler attached to it for decent power levels.
the transmissions in 3rd gens have a learning cycle on them to adjust shift points etc, from memory a company a while ago tried a chip, but the trans computer learns its way around it to try and smooth everything back out again..

I have decided to drive the auto until, it wont drive anymore, however I can tell you that the best quote I got was $1300, also If you want to rebuild stronger, the front and back clutches have stronger replacements and also the the pump can be upgarded for more capacity
