So after our little pick and pay(more)less outing in blacktown. (thanks Kif by the way). I had a small accident involving a Land Cruiser. And i mean the massive ones to. W**ker driver was on the wrong side of the road and forced me into a guard rail as he came round the corner. He didn't hit me. But i was forced to swerve to miss him just because i didn't want to plough head on into his huge unnecessary bulbar. When i went to get a quote from the repair wizard in katoomba they quoted $1750 to replace the fender on the passenger side, repaint it, repaint the rear, and even respray a few other spots for me that i requested.
Heres some pictures.

I didn't get a physical quote. But i do know the bonnet will get a respray, the whole front bumper will get a respray and the damaged area/panel after repair will be resprayed. Also a panel on the rear will be resprayed and so will the rear bumper.

Thats not too bad a quote.
Bonnet - $300
Front Bumper Bar - $250
Front NS 1/4 Panel - $250
Rear Bumper Bar - $250
Rear NS 1/4 Panel - $250
Just a stab in the dark at the figures he's put through..
Plus Repairs, Parts, Environmental Levy, Waste etc.
It's a decent quote.. Hopefully you get some decent work.

hes not the only one that suffered
on the way there a ute cut the car in front of me off and as i was braking,a lady pushed my magna into the back of a pulsar
and to add insult to injury, she has no insurance
sorry to hear about this anyway, if you have the guys rego, make a report to the police saying what happened

Price is quite good, you need to realise aside from the materials and parts there are many hours of labour alone involved especially with repairs being done

If you have his rego.. Some insurance companies only require this to lodge a NAF claim.
The other driver has failed right of way as he has crossed the centre lines on the road.

Is it really worth spending that money on it, I'd keep an eye out as Perry said at the wreckers.

Sadly i was to pissed off to turn around and get a good look at his licence plate. Didn't even bother calling police. No insurance on my end. When i decided to go to college i was forced to cancel it at my mothers request. And i didn't call the police because whats the point. They would have said it was my fault for not paying attention when actually i was avoiding a bigger accident. Plus i'm a P plater. That would look great. *sigh*
(also i spoke to them about going and buying a new part from the wreckers. But it will cost $70+ then i'd have to pay someone to have it fitted and matched. So either way. It will cost a pretty penny)

Mate look around - 2k is quite high. The guard is around $250 BRAND NEW from mitsu and the rear bumper from memory is around $350.
However you could get much cheaper if you go to wreckers. My local wrecker asks $50 for a guard. Front/Rear bumper is around $80. Pick n pay style wreckers are usually cheaper as they save money with you removing the part. Wreckers that remove the part for you will be a bit more expensive.
You can also save money with fitting the parts yourself. It's not that hard - it just requires a socket set and using your brain. Be methodical with removing all the bolts, by either numbering them or lining them up in a piece of cardboard. Get the manual and find out where all the bolts are.
You then search for a spray painter who doesn't mind working for cash. Ask around and you'll be surprised for the cost you may be able to get it done. Look for private, small independent businesses over large pro looking panel shops. Some of them advertise in local papers, classifieds, gumtree etc - my dad recently had his bonnet resprayed from bare metal for $250 cash from a guy we found advertising on Gumtree. The job is flawless - perfect match.
Alternatively, look around local wreckers to find if any of them has the same colour parts as you do, or even do it yourself! Watch some episodes from a guy on youtube called "CustomSprayMods" - he'll teach you everything you need to know about spray painting.
Honestly, if you look around you could probably get that fixed for $600-700 if you're clever about it.

Serious????? Please understand for the work required that the quote is fairly cheap for a panel shop.

i do have a panel beater friend in sydney that could probably fix it
even so,a front panel should be easy to replace
just get a few members from NSW who know what they are doing to help

Considering the labour, materials and environmentals, that quote is pretty good.
Ultimately, you get what you pay for.
