Hi guys,
I wanna perform a slight modification to my speakers... I want to make them appear to be chrome surrounds, just the outside edges...
Would this work?

Someone suggested this as an alternative to spraying them... I want to make them match my door handles, which are the chrome ones that came in the ke ei 1996 veradas (diamantes) before they became crappy plastic ones

There is proper chrome tape out there. You can get it from any good automotive shop.
You can spray them but the sprays out there aren't a proper chrome finish they are more like an Aluminium. If you want proper chrome you would have to pay a specialist to do it for you.

You can also get chrome pin striping, but it might not be wide enough.

Pin striping comes wide enough, but it doesn't stretch very well, it hates curves and twists, you could try chrome u shape moulding, but it might need assistance sticking. And its bulky.
I would try the pinstripe, but use a hairdryer to soften it, and a craft knife to snip in cuts when it wants to crease, the pin stripe is 13.00 at auto stores, SAAD brand...Probably cheaper from China...
I think I'll just paint mine black....

That stuff looks like on of the things you could try, buy the Jake with doing something the first time, is you'll have to learn along the way.
But getting properly chromed would cost 10 to 20 times what that's worth...
I would be tempted to try that if its chromy enough...hard to see, I'm on my phone...

Well I was tellin someone the other day, i'm learning everything, I mean, only the other week was the first time i'd ever been to a wrecker... and I mean ever... So I'm learning.
This is my first car, so i'm using it to learn, but at the same time, I also am a perfectionist... So I like everything done properly.

Be interesting to see what cost they are Tony ,they are a fairly complex shape with specific left and right sides.
I inquired at a Electroplating place the other day and it worked out to be about $45.00 to get ONE RING CHROMED :eek2::eek2::eek2:
A set of six was looked at and it was going to be $240 odd dollars.......waaaay to money for a tiny bit of bling ,okay if you are loaded,but...
they do look damm sexy when they have been chromed.

Hmmm, they look familiar :P
When I had mine done it was at A-class metals at Lonsdale. $35 a side from memory and they were perfect.
