Hey guys. a couple of months ago I slapped some RainX on my windscreen. Anyway since about 2-3 weeks after to about now, my wipers are shuddering and skipping to the point where it gets frustrating. they're also annoying me with the clunk as they reverse direction.

I am a guy who prides himself on his windscreen. the second I notice a spec of dust on there, I hit the washers.

At the time I put the rainx on the windscreen I had those aero dynamic ones on. They got to the point that they would shudder so badly I would shut them off if it was raining at anything less than pouring.

Now, being in the middle of bum****, idaho, the only rainfall we get is light to medium rain, so I need a set of wipers that run fine with no shuddering even if it's a light mist on the windscreen.

Reccomendations for a decent set of wipers for the Shagna? cheers

Aerotwins

1. Are they good?
2. Where are they available? Super Cheap, Autobarn, Repco, etc?

Google says that wiper fluid, petrol, and silicone remover all remove rainX.
Also, that to get crystal clear vision with no streaking or fogging, it has to be only a tiny amount applied and buffed off extremely well.
Didn't say anything about fixing wiper shudder, but did mention it as another effect of rainX.
I think there would be rainX all over the edges of your wiper blades, best way is probably to remove the rainX and replace the blades, and if you have to re-apply the rainX, very thinly and buff out as much as you can.
silicone can be a wonderful thing and a very horrible thing, depends on where and how its used, and what you're trying to achieve.

I have a set of Bosch Aerotwins and apply RainX every 2 or 3 months... I swear by this combination. No noise and they work perfectly.

I might try to source some silicone remover. I'd like to cut down on most of the rain X. it gets to a point, for example, where i'm on a highway and it's raining enough that it's blocking my vision/distracting, but if I put the wipers on they shudder because there isn't enough water on the windscreen and they run dry.

Red Valdez, where did you get your aerotwins from? I'm at a loss as to where I can get them.

I work at Bosch so I get mine from work, I am sure you can get them from any of the auto stores.

I bought them through megatron and his last group buy, however you can definitely buy them from Autobarn. I saw some in there last week.

I run Bosch Aerotwins and have the rain-x that you dilute with water and add to the windscreen washer water.
Works well for me.

You can get the Bosch Aerotwins from Megatron (& also maybe Mal as well I think?).

I used to use it but got sick of blade shudder. My screen guy hates the stuff, on the car I used it on I ended up replacing the screen as apparently once on it gets into the pores of the glass and is there for good

I do aero twins for 29 each, no need to buy in quantity as thes is the rrp anyway

I dont know if its a good thing or not, but im from the old school way, i use that once a year car polish on my windows and winscreen, then use the once a year car wax over the top of that again with standard wiper blades, no shudder at all

You sir have got this!!!!

I put wax on all windows and buff out, I have Bosch aero twins on but hardly ever use them as the water just beads off the glass, works wonders on the highway.....

I have used Rain X for 22 years and never had any blades chatter. but in saying that i also wipe the blade with Rain X when i apply it to the window, after washing the car.and just use a single blade wiper blade.

Thats really off. i got some new wipers and i use rainex all the time. haven't experienced anything like this. The silicone wipers are really trendy now-a-days. Plus they come in different colours.

Well I went down to Autobarn the other day and grabbed just a set of standard wipers to get me through. Went I have money to throw around I'll get a set of aerotwins.

I got pair of Aero twins for a bit less than $60 from Bursons. They are working better than the ones I got from Aldi for $20, which started to become very noisy after 9 months.

I had shuddering after RainX as well. It will disappear after a while, but you need to bare with shuddering for a few months. Also, I find Pure Rubber metal backing blades work the best for what they cost (approc $10 ea) they last for about 2 years, those wiper blades.

no issues with RainX and OEM blades here
I find the most annoying thing is the mist type of rain that hangs around on the rear window, RainX helps once I get some air speed up but only on the edges.
Now I just use a squeegy once before I drive off and RainX keeps most of it off after that. Commute distance is circa 12km, 70km/h or less speed limits..

Polish is used to bring out the lustre in paint - so it's pretty redundant on glass. Just stick to the wax :)

I use the teflon striped blades to stop chatter in underwet situations

I have used RainX forseveral years without the wiper blades chattering.
Just a little occasional gossip. :D:D
