As they're two single voice coil 4 ohm subs, I'd be looking for a monoblock amplifier that had an output of around 600w RMS at 2 ohm (wiring diagram (http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/images/woofer_wizard/2_4ohmSVC_2ohm.png)).
I would suggest a Jaycar Response amp, as they're a good budget amp. However, the only monoblock they seem to make now is the 1000w RMS model - mind you, it's around $250-300, so it's not that expensive anyway.

That'd it the subs perfectly. Just noticed that it's 600w @ 2 ohm, which is what you're looking for...

another thumbs up for jaycar gear if your tight on the cashflow
JL is a good brand for subs - I have an older model, only rated at 125W RMS but people say it handles much more than that and is a great sub for it's low price, I'm sure these ones are even better.
JL's website recommends from 75 to 300W RMS per sub, so that 600W is bang on the upper limit - the website actually says warranty void if running over 300W RMS.
http://www.jlaudio.com/12w0v3-4-car-audio-w0v3-subwoofer-drivers-92166
I'm also a fan of Jaycar amps - well respected as a budget amp - good bang for buck.
I've just replaced an old school Rockford Fosgate 2x50 RMS amp (probably providing 280W RMS bridged) with a 2x150 RMS Jaycar Amp (500W RMS bridged) and it's a noticable improvement. I think you'll be damaging your hearing and enjoying your music immensely with that combination of 2x12" JLs and Jaycar amp.
Plus, if the audio bug bites, buy another pair of JLs and run them in parallel and you'll get 1000 W RMS @ 1 Ohm = 250W per sub - almost doubling your SPL :)

Regardless of what brand you buy, I would be spending less on your rear speakers, and more on your front speakers - or ditch upgrading the rears completely. 2 sets of average speakers won't sound as good as 1 decent set of speakers....

If you're looking at spending ~$1000 on your stereo, have you considered splitting up your money differently?
If it was me, I'd be looking at about $300 for a set of front splits, $300 for a four channel amp, and $300 for a sub and box. Which leaves you with around $100 for wiring etc.

idk about splits, i had an idea of mounting tweeters where those holes are covered in the dash, but not really fond as i dont know how to wire up splits and the other s%$# that goes with it
i just really need back ones as the rear ones are gone on me while the alpines that i put in from the old car are ok in the front for now
red any suggestions on good brands??

I think you've missed my point somewhat. You don't need rear speakers.
To simplify audio to it's very, very basics, sound is directional. Music sounds the best when it's pointed at you. This means that, as the driver of the car, your front speakers will always sound better than your rear speakers, because they're aimed at you.
In other words, your front speakers are quite important, but your rear speakers are not. Subsequently, it is common practice for audio enthusiasts to fade away their rear speakers (so they're just audible from the driver's seat), or remove them altogether.
So if you want the best stereo for your buck, it makes the most sense to concentrate your funds on your front speakers, and not your rear speakers. If you are on a very tight budget and want better rear speakers, I would be looking at something second-hand.

Well said Red......
Splits is where its at, without going all SQ comp...
John, have a look a verada tweeter pods. Great place for tweeters, and easy to fit...
Just get a tweeter pod and go into a decent Audio shop. And get a tweet that fits in there. 19 or 25mm silk dome with a small surround.
Red has the pods, as do I, and about every decent sounding magna I've ever been in has pods or better. Take a peek in reds car thread, there should be a pic in there...

In that case, how do you install splits, i know therss that thing the speakers connect to but where does that go from there??
And how much is a verada tweeter pod
SH00T
27-05-2012, 07:21 AM
The tweeter pod is usually under 30 for the pair, less second hand....
I just had a quick browse through the show us your install thread and I found a shot of pea and hams door...(many moons ago) this is what you can aim for

The biggest and best result is putting good speakers up front, every extra effort and detail , like dynamatting netts its own rewards.. But start with decent fronts... Forget the the rears for now...

yeah,ok...
but that box thingy near the outside of the door, where does that connect to, does it need an amp/power of some sort???

Its a crossover (xover) you run the wiring from either the headunit or external amplifier to this crossover and that splits that one run into two, those two runs then get wired into the tweeter and the midwoofer.
Can I please suggest to yourself and many others that you do not buy from Soundmaster, you are in New South Wales which is one of the best states for trusted local retailers.
If you go visit, Carbon Car Systems, Frankies Auto Electrics or better yet Marty at FHRX Studios you will actually get some face time with someone that knows what exactly they are talking about. Splits up the front as already suggested will yield the best results instead of reinforcing the rear speakers to have all the sound come from behind you. Also on that I hope you don't thing Alpine are the best of the best when it comes to in car entertainment, because they are not.

With splits, you run your speaker wire from the headunit as if it was any other speaker - so any headunit can run a set of splits. But instead of connecting straight into the speaker, it connects into the 'crossover' (which is supplied with your splits). Then, from the splits, one wire runs to the tweeters, and another runs to the woofer.
Like I said above though, my recommendation would be to get a 4 channel amplifier, and run the splits off the amp too. Speakers sound better when running off an amplifier.

I reckon they're better in the doors. Like SH00T said, you can get little pods that sit on your front doors at the base of the A pillar - you can see them in this post (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58568&p=1460222&viewfull=1#post1460222). They're about $20 ea new from Mitsubishi, or I'm sure you could find a set second-hand.

I don't like tweeters in the top of the dash, tweeters have quite a direction sound and the issue with that is that with those dash holes you actually get quite a few reflections off the windscreen, you may not notice it but I would recommend the pods that I used to use that Shoot Posted up a pic to.
What I would do mate, before you buy any gear, get a list of what you've seen you want to buy off the internet, or get a list of what you need and a budget and go into one of those shops and see what they can work out for you price wise.
Any decent local will want to keep their business running and its people like yourself they need guidance and advice that will keep them there, so prior to buying anything online have a chat to a local, if they cant match the deal you have seen online, weigh up the options.

Your only flaw being where the hell do you put them all?!

They replace the triangle thing... pull the top out 2 cm and lift.... To fit line up the lugs at the bottom then press the top in...
