have a look here http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63656&page=2&highlight=gearbox
NO it will fit but there are probs with drive shafts at the wrong height (yes tr/ts shafts are higher from the ground to allow for 15" -16" rims) and different inner cv on passenger side drive shaft (cant use tr/ts shafts wrong lenght)

in all honesty i dont think you are going to get a better box for a tm-tp then the km-120 or what ever it is. mine is as sloppy as anything and has prob gone around the world twice but it still takes allot of abuse. you cant shift without the clutch but thats it. the gear ratios are much higher then other cars tho so towing ect is a bit harder. cant really take off in second without riding the clutch allot. ill go look up the ratios for you if you like but i cant imagine them being that much different.

Well all TM-TS us the same 2.6L 4g54 4cylinder engine so i imagine the bellhousing is the same for all.
As for height of the driveshafts i don't think that would be much of a difference after all they are a universal joint of sorts and have to rise and fall to some extent with the suspension (outer joint).
One would assume the F4A tranny in the auto TS 4 cylinder would have a similar dimensions to the Km177 TP 4 cylinder.
As for putting 16 inch rims or larger on......... they just have to put a lower profile tyre on to maintain the overall diameter which is no biggie.
Then if you think about it 1 inch bigger rim is stuff all really anyway!! Vee
i found out the hard way when i did a manual conversion to my tp.
I forgot to grab the half shaft when i got all the bits and had to use the auto half shaft with spacers in between so i could drive it to get the right one.
To my dismay the wrecker had removed the car before i got back there.
As manual first gens are like hens teeth i had problems finding another i tried a tr/ts manual half shaft and the holes were way off.
so no it wont work
i was off on the rims sizes tm/ tp has 14" and tr/ ts has 15"

you can use the tr/ts box in early magnas the drive shafts are all the same from tm through to ts in both auto and manual you only have to change the half shaft that bolts to the motor cause 4 spd and5 spd are different and the tr/ts are different ratios are same the 4 spd are the strongest box from the tm we have broken every 5spd we have used in our race car
