Hi all,
My TR 2.6 Auto is playing up. Has been for months. I have had it serviced with new filter and correct fluid. It just jumps out of gear when ever it feels like it. When i slow down or stop at the lights it wont go into a gear. I just wondering is it worth buying another TCU or just get a second hand box. Are these symptoms of a crook tcu. When i take the fuse out it grabs second fine.
cheers and hope someone can help
regards

Torque converter may not be locking in.
Turn your overdrive off and go for a drive, if it goes upto 3rd without jumping then turn on overdrive to get 4th gear and see what happens, if it jumps out then the converter is at fault. This is whats happening with my TR, but mine needs replacing anyway.

Mine is ok when it gets into 4th. It really struggles in third, like im driving with my foot on the brake.

I service it myself. Levals are fine and I use genuine fluid. Without the fuse it clunks going into second or reverse.

serviced 8 weeks ago. Fluid looks good. When I put the fuse back in, I wont really grab a gear at all. Have to rev it to like 3.5k to get it to jump into gear. Once in gear its fine until I stop at the lights or intersection and it just dosnt have any drive. Then rev it up to 3.5k and it bangs into gear. So worth trying another tcu

trying a tcu wont hurt.3.5grand before it kicks in as above converter or pump
