View Full Version : tm/tn magna wagon , rear door/boot won't open, can I open it from inside?
Hi there,
my rear door of my wagon won't open , not sure why, prob just age/rust/wear.
is there any way to get it open from the inside? do I need to climb in through the back and take the door panel off?
any help would be appreciated
thanks

Going in through the inside is the only option, but because the tailgate is closed, that panel can't be removed. Cutting a neat square hole where the lock mechanism is will allow you to operate it from the inside of the car.

have you try to unlock it with the key as the central lock on the tailgate may be broken .
if yes as max said cut a small hole
the handle has a plastic tap that break,s
i,ve broken three on my wagon

I had a TP wagon with the same problem. Used brute force to break the whole panel off the tailgate from inside. lol Bit of a job gluing the broken bits back on. Only thought of cutting the hole later on. lol My only excuse is that I was desperate at the time.

I have tried the key, and yes my central locking has just started to go as well.
don't suppose someone could post a pic of the hole or describe where you cut it?

thanks magnaman,
i don't have a drill, but I'll get a hole there somehow ;) might not be pretty though, ha ha

soldering iron cut a circle in the plastic then knock it out. (be ware there is sound deadener behind the plastic )

So I went out with tool sand prepared to climb in the back and do some damage, and I thought, I'd just try it, and guess what, it opened. I think cause maybe my power locks are going it may have just not unlocked, but the key wouldn't work in the boot.
am gonna drench it in lubricant, and see if it stays good. might put that hole in anyway, for days it decides not too work and I gotta get in the boot.
it is also starting to rust out so might hit some wreckers and see if I can't find a better back door
thanks again

this car has done things like this a few times, had a funny noise for a while, went away, had a starting problem for a while, been fine the last year, lol
