Not sure if this is right section to post this but i have a 97 te magna 5 speed manual 4cyl.
My cars gearbox cant hold 4th gear any more and was wondering if the 6 cyl and 4cyl manual gearboxs where interchangeable ??

What do you mean it cant hold 4th? Are the synchros shot?

Your engine is a 2.4L 4G64. A gearbox from a 6 cylinder will not fit due to a different bolt pattern. However lancers are dime a dozen at just about all car yards and they share the same gearboxes (gearboxen). Just have to find the right orientation and something the around the same year model as yours.

I have a Mirage here, not sure if is the same box but does share the same orientation as the third gen Magna, this may be an option. Have never really thought that far outside the square with boxes to be honest lol.
