hey all,
thinking about throwing a dickie seat ( or whatever its called ) into the back of the wagon to make it a 7 seater
despite actually finding one, and getting it engineered are these actually hard to put into place or do they need to be professionaly installed in order to be certified by a engineer?
anyone know costs of have it engineered ?
also cossts of getting professianly fitted?>
last question ... where can i find one lol despite calling wreckers around aus till i find one of course :D

You may find this hard unless the car is designed to take 7 people in terms of safety to passengers in collisions etc.
Buy a pajero or other 4wd or car with 7 seats from the start. Would be cheaper and less hassle IMO

I had a Take 2 Classic (from here (http://www.retroseating.com.au/index.html)) fitted to my VZ Commodore wagon about 3 years ago now, cost me approx $1200 fitted. Had to be fitted by them (involved drilling in to body to fit mounting bolts etc) and they supplied certification that the seat met Aust Standards, including crash test data. At the time they were working with Transport SA to enable them to affix updated compliance plates to vehicles, this was a work in progress however I never had any issues. Seat was trimmed to match factory trim in the car.
At the time they confirmed that there was no reason the same seat couldn't have been fitted to either a BF Falcon or TH Magna wagon. That is the only thing I cannot comment on, suitability into a 2nd Gen.
Worked well for the year we kept the car until we traded it in for a 7 seat Territory (we got an extra $1k on the trade in, because the VZ was a 7 seater)
also, pm GRD Puck, he had one he was selling at one stage, don't recall if it sold or he got rid of it.

Unfortunately for 'tunerequired' my Dickie Seat has been sold.
If you buy one new, easier to just get them to install it.
If you buy one secondhand, just take it to a reputable interior trimmer - most will do Dickie seat installs.
Depending on the seat, I don't think they are too hard to install if you're reasonable with electric tools etc.
Not sure about NSW or if things have changed in VIC, but when we had ours installed, it didn't need a Engineers Cert. But probably best to check with the RTA.
