As said ive found a vr-x 380 2007 series 3, I have been lOoking for one since I sold my 97 veranda last year, I love the look and style of the car only problem is it has 150,000kms on the clock. It's going for $11,990 in wa, U guys think it's worth it?

It's only 5 years old so i'm guessing the kms are mostly highway? Sounds like a good deal to me. The only downside to it will be in another 5 years it may have 250,000kms and when you go to sell it won't really be worth anything, but with the money you are paying for it i wouldn't worry about that to much.
Just get the usual checks done and get a mechanic to see it if you aren't mechanically minded. Bargain.

150k for 5 years is sfa, also 150k for a 380 motor is also sfa, I would grab it if you like the car and it ticks all your boxes on what you require.
The S3 VRX is by far the best of all the models in my opinion, unfortunately the s3 GT went back to the VRX cluster style so may as well get the one with those inserts, look at it this way, those bar inserts are worth $1400 new so really you are getting the car for $10k lol

For someone who's interest in 380s has been quipped by their recent plummet in prices... why do you think the S3 VRX is the pick?

I bought this one for 10 grand 3 weeks ago, thought it was a bargain, sonce it was virtually the same as a VRX without a couple of the nice trinkets... http://www.valleymotorauctions.com.au/as_vehicle_details.aspx?sitekey=VMA&mvmta=188060

Speaking from experience, If it's been serviced regularly the K's mean nothing...
I think you'd find a better deal on a VRX for that price. If you're in that ball park then you can find something with half the kms for $2-4k on the price.

You got a '06 Limited Edition too? Me too, and mine's black exactly like the linked ad.
As for OP, sounds like a good offer.

these cars are built strong... i noticed when i got mine 66,000 km... that the oil plug on the oil bay has never been touched... nice black color... and when i touched the color pealed off so easily... meaning 66,000 w no oil change ;-) ex rental car, just clocking 95,000 km in like 18 months... great car

I paid $12k for a 6/2007 SX Series with 78k on the clock from a dealer just before last Christmas. Clearly the best built car i have owned and prefer to drive it over my company ride which is a 2010 FG G6.
There is just something about the solid feel of these cars and build quality. The 5 speed auto is every bit as smooth as a ZF 6 speed as found in the Fords.

I would not be worrying about kms! I bought my series 2 with 140k on the clock about 9 months ago for $13k drive away from a dealer. Haven't had a single issue with it and is as smooth as the day I bought it. It was also in better condition than some of the 380's I saw that had 50k kms on them, it was a no brainer, I'd rather pay LESS for more kms for a car that's been looked after better.

But you can hunt down better deals, I paid the same for a series 3 SX with 75k on the clock. It's an ex-lease vehicle with factory bluetooth, headlamp and bonnet protectors, and a few more trimmings. It's been serviced like clock work, the only thing I could find wrong with it was the top of the gear knob was worn from the previous owners wedding ring! It really comes down to hunting for something and making a deal than jumping on something because it's cheap.

Yeah is smooth but not smart or quick to change gears like the ZF
I bought my 02 SII VR-X in 2005 with 140,000 is on it. I haven't looked back ans she runs as strong to this day.
You'll never make money from it if you sell in 5 years anyway. The way I see it is it's the sellers loss cause kms mean stuff all nowadays. If the cars in good nic and runs well, it should last with regular servicing and some TLC.
Give it a good look over, ask the questions and give the car a good test run if you can. If its anything like my VRX, it'll be well worth the lower price for the higher ks... It was a win for me.

Gotta disagree with you on that one mate. There's not an auto that competes with the ZF... nor is there a manual gearbox that performs as well as the ZF... and a tuned ZF is another kettle of fish all together.

Nice buy, the blue's nice on the 380s.
Old post I know but just wondering how things have gone with the car?
Reason I ask is I'm tossing up between two 2007 VRX with 110,000ks (my 06 sx was written off in hail :sook: ) and seeing if you've needed anything replace on it - apart from the usual consumables, pads, struts etc.
Seems anything under 200,000ish ks on these and probably most modern cars nothing much needs to be done, maybe water pump.
Hope it's been treating you well but.

You would be wrong there!
The 380 has the same service requirements as the Magna 3.5L at around 100,000 km - cam belt, spark plugs, etc. Worth searching for those requirements in the 3rd gen section.
Keep that is mind while shopping for a 380 and ask to see service records.

I have a 2005 GT. I bought it with 69,000km and it's currently on 131,000km after two and a bit years of ownership.
Outside of scheduled servicing, consumables and some slight modifications, the only issue I've had was a CV boot that came a bit loose.
You should be fine.

Max he makes reference to 'the usual consumables' so as a previous 380 owner I assume he would be full aware of the timing belt, spark plugs, etc.

Bought my 380 series 2 vrx around 135k kms, i'm nearly at 190k kms and the only things i've had to replace are the rear window regulators (common fault), fuel pump and rear wheel bearings. The previous 2 are probably standard for a car this age anyway.
Haven't had any issues with it, still drives as smooth as the day i bought it.
The only real question i'd be asking is whether they have had their major service done or not, aside from the usual conditional check.
