Hey guys hope that you could give me some insight into this

My TE failed me for the first time in 4 years today just failed to start. will turn over but no fire

i have checked several things that could have caused this but still it wont start haha

was told that it could be the fuel pump so new one in and it still doesnt start. after checking the old pump still worked but it look dismall dismal

checked to see if fuel was making it from tank to the engine, which it is

it has spark

the only thing i can think of that could be the problem is the tps (throttle position sensor)
other than that it has a new distributor and crank angle sensor(i think) in it

i dont have much knowledge in fixing cars or diagnosing what the problem is. if you could give me any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Every now and then you may have to take out the keys, then put them back in and restart it. Can be the ECU having a moment.

Otherwise disconnet the battery, which will reset the ECU, then fire it up again.

cheers man have tried to do that with the key but it still didnt fire haha it was sitting in south nowra for about 5hours dead i sat with her and tried to fiddle and then turn her over every now and then but no luck.

tomorrow morning im going to disconnect and reconnect the battery hoping that restarting the ecu is the fix
also while im working on it im going to take of the tps and clean it out and check all those connections for dodgy one
and take off the panel under the steering wheel and clean all the ingnition connection as i have been told that there might be dodgy connections in there that could cause a problem like this

thanks for the help mitch appreciate it.

No prob mate!

Though I doubt that it is the TPS - I snapped mine a few months back and drove the car for a week and whilst idle was inconsistant and the gearbox shift point was bit how-you-going, it still started and drove fine! But unless you have fiddled with the ignition connections in the past, they should still be fine. (hot wiring your ignition mate?! Hahahahaha)

Also, check you main engine relay(s) under the bonnet too!! I should have mentioned that earlier!

In the colder months, (like now lol), sometimes on a cold startup mine will cut out straight after firing up....if i just tried to turn the thing over without taking the keys out and putting them back in it wont fire up.

More than likely its the ecu had the same problem 6months ago had to take it to mitsubishi to have the ecu rebuilt cost about 300 with a new sender wich takes about a week or 2 as it has to be sent from sa.

Have had a few TE with dead ECU lately, only issue is the TE ECU is unique, you can not run the TF one or later unless you also change the trans (unless is a manual lol)

You will need to get an ECU with the exact same number s ayou have

Cheers will find out today if the ecu is the problem. does anyone know a rough price of a euc used or new?
