Hi Folks,

First post/thread here. Hi everyone. :)

I have a 2005 Magna TW ES series II ( I think TW?) with 106,000 thou. Everything has been done according to the log books to a T expect for the last 105,000 service where the Timing belt wasn't changed.
I now have this rattle like on a cold start up for about 30seconds. After that it's perfectly fine. The car cannot be faulted in anyway and no other noises.

I have done the search on this site and it sounds like it is the tensioner on the timing belt?

The timing belt was last checked at 80,000 and drive belts changed at that time also. Just seems odd it would have issues 25,000 after but hey it is a car after all. :)

Also as I'm planning on going on a rather long road trip in the next month I'd like to know if there is anything I should get triple checked before going of?

At the moment I'm expecting the timing belt to be changed and the rattle sorted. I expect this to be about the $6-$800 mark..

Any advice would be greatly appreciated..

PS: Without the Mitsu remote is there any way to easily open the trunk (sedan) without having to use the latch in the back seat?

Is the pre tensioner, has been covered many times, please don't confuse new members with guesses

Use the button in the glove box for the boot

Cheers.. I think I remember you being the one in the thread I read.

Yes sorry for bringing up one of those relentless questions. How much should I expect to pay to get it fixed?

PS: Mate your a life saver with the glove box trick.. No more getting stuck in the back seat. No why Mitsu never had that in the owners manual has be stuffed. :)

EDIT: Just searched the cost. Thanks for the advice folks. :)

Was not commenting on your post mate, was the next post which has now been deleted stating lash adjusters etc, you were on the money with your search

I can do the pre tensioners for $125 plus freight, fitting if the mechanic knows what they are doing should be around 2 hours or there abouts
