Hi guys, got a prob with my KS Verada wagon. Flat battery yesterday (left my lights on) and now my "security" system - A Vision VAE317-550 (I believe these were dealer-fitted?) activates (flashes hazard lights) every time I open a door. Requires a sequence of key turning to cancel it. I have had this before but the key turn thing usually cancels it for good (or until the next flat battery). Anyone had a similar experience or suggest a fix? Remote fobs disappeared long ago.
Dave.

I had a different issue with my factory system when i put an aftermarket system in.
Seems that the factory system is very thorough and complicated for a 1994/1995 model.
On a side note, i have two factory remotes i no longer need if you want them, they are pretty rare and Mitsubishi no longer make them.

Thanks for the reply hulkstar, but my remotes were aftermarket too. Rang a car radio/alarm crowd who quoted $110 to remove the system. Motivated me to go back to basics and start with the simple things (always a good plan). RACQ guy measured the battery at 8 V before jumping it, so it wasn't dead flat. Tonight I disconnected/reconnected the battery and problem solved! Obviously just needed to be reset. Embarrassing, but fixed.
Have met others with this type of system (I think it was fitted to provide keyless entry on EI Veradas) who also had problems.
Now to deal with clunking suspension, clicking CVs, sagging headlining, rattling rear disk pads (does that drive anyone else crazy?) and a sluggish passenger window and it will as good as a new one.
Has provided useful, comfy, reliable transport for 14 years/180,000 km though.

Hi mate, I fitted alarm for a Mits dealer for many years and often used the 318-550 / 650 and 1800. The 550 was the older code style. The battery slowly going flat in the car puts the Pic chip in the alarm to "sleep". All you have to do is unplug the alarm module for 30 seconds and plug it back in.

Thanks Rod,
No problems since disconnecting/reconnecting the battery (which, I guess, powers down the module- like unplugging it?) BTW where is that alarm module located?
I've had this car from 3 years old and was told the Vision system was fitted to provide keyless entry to the EI model. Does that make sense? It's connected (or configured) to flash the hazards when broken into
(which it has been).
