Is there any one here that has enough smarts to know what axles will fit what models and what wont.

I had a drive-shaft/cv joint replaced a few years ago on my then 4 speed auto TH and was told that the shaft was a specific one to that model and couldn't be swapped for a std one ,what ever that is.

Now l have a 3.0 manual box and need to replace the passenger side cv joint.
(i think we used the old auto drive shaft in the conversion, cant remember )

What models Magna's can i simply go to wreckers and get a shaft off and it will drop into my manual box ?

I have a GTV wreck at home ,but ,i have been told ,that i can use the drivers side shaft ,but not the passenger because of the 5 speed auto ,fair enough.

Are CV joints interchangeable between all models?

Thanks.

oh.....and i did search through ten pages of threads looking for some thing about CV/Drive shafts but there wasn't any thing specific as to what bolted up to what.

Mike, aside from that thread, I am sure I have told you this before as well lol

You CAN use the Drivers side Drive shaft but not the intermediate shaft
You CAN NOT use the passenger side

yeah...i know that i cant use the passenger shaft as it goes into the 5sp with different splines....

because you told me when i asked you ,but i guess i didnt make myself clear enough which shaft/cv joint i needed for what...

All i want to know is whether or not the CV joints are interchangeable between shafts, regardless of where they come from.

Michael, dont bother taking joints off shafts, is a waste of time and money. If oyu need a new shaft, get one.

You can use some joints on other shafts, there was such a mix and match of shafts is not possible to say if a particular joint will fit a particular shaft
