can anyone tell me if there are any differences in replacing the rear pads to those in the front, done the front many times but never the rear.

Rear's are same as front's. Magna's have rotor style brakes front and back. Some models (e.g. AWD, Rallairt) have bigger ones at the front and the back but they come off the same way.
