Howdy,

I been driving my TR magna for about 2 weeks and last week the battery went flat after i turned the car off for about 2 mins and i had to jump start it to get it home. I thought i fixed the problem when i found some dodgy wiring behind the Head unit which was the constant and the acc power were around the wrong way so i corrected it and though the problem was fixed coz the car was fine all week.

but this weekend the car has been loosing power when returning to idle, such as when im crusing at 60km/h and i begin to slow down and get to around 30km/h the head lights dim right down the stereo will turn off and the car will eventully stall if i dont hit the throttle. When i hit the throttle the lights all brighten up and the stereo will come back on. Im assuming the alternator is on the way out and isnt suppilying the car with enough power, and tonight i parked it at safeway for about 10 mins and came back and the battery was dead flat?

I jump started it out the front of safeway and let it run for about 10 mins then put it in drive and it stalled and the battery was once again dead flat!!! its a 93 TR Magna 2.6l EFI Auto

Any help with this would be great!

thanks

paul

How new is the battery. Perhaps its not holding a charge anymore (check the electrolyte level too!!)

The other port of call is the alternator/regulator could be faulty.

If its neither of those ... then its off to the auto electrician I'd say :)

As above. Sounds like a dead cell in the battery or regulator. Espically if the headlights are flaring with engine rev's.

Get it tested or just get a new one.

If it's a new battery, take it back and get it replaced. Get your alternator checked as well, it could be that too. If it's not a new battery, get a new one.
