Hi Guys,

This is a a bit of a weird one or even potentially a stupid question......

It's happened on 2 occasions where I would slow down to just below 40km/h and then apply slight throttle and it felt almost as if the transmission would be unsure of which gear to engage causing a 'lunging' motion. The only other way I can explain it is a forwards backwards motion. When I gave it a bit more acceleration it was fine.
Just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this.
Car is question is 05 GT, 75k, all services up to date, still under warranty.

Thanks

Has the trans fluid been flushed at the last service?

Otherwise, yes it's happened to me sometimes but usually goes away after consistent slow speed driving (in heavy traffic). My car has done 185K. I think it might be an INVECSII issue but others will know more.

I vaguely remember another thread about something similar, where the answer was 'it's the torque converter lock-up unlocking'.

Not that I would know, driving a manual!

Get "All learned values" cleared from the transmission control unit and a flush wouldn't be a bad idea.

I have had 3 different 380's and all 3 were "fixed" by clearing the computer (with the MUT tool)

Pretty much all you can do is take it to a dealer. Or get it flushed (may as well get that done at a dealer anyway).

You could try disconnecting the battery and see if that helps (dealer mechanics say 20minutes minimum)

ps. dont expect a dealer or mitsubishi to be much help.
most people i talked to about it said it was a "attribute" or "trait" of a 380.

Then i met one mitsubishi technician who told me to try clearing the values and PRESTO fixed

I also know that clearing the values wont work all the time and that the problem may return

Mine does it some of the time, I have cleared all values and done a complete reset with my MUTTIII and seemed to have cured it for now. It is I believe an INVECS thing, sometimes the poor old TCU gets a little confused

Instead of disconnecting the battery, you can also pull out both the auto transmission fuse & ECU fuse in the engine bay. This might work instead of resetting all your radio setting or alarm.

Just thought that i would mention that disconnecting the battery wont clear the transmission (or engine ecu for that matter) 100%.

Obviously it costs you nothing to disconnect the battery BUT dont expect it to do a whole lot.
