Hey there guys! first post here haha.
So a few months ago i bought my beloved 2001 TJ magna VR-X for $6000 w/150000kms and i've loved it ever since! Im just wandering for future reference what are some mods i could look into? Im pretty much a car noob but pretty keen on learning! At some stage i'd like to get new white or blue bulbs, easy done yeah? Heres some Piccy's:

car looks good mate!
there are heaps of mods you can do. 2 that i would mark off are Fog Lights and Parras.
some suggestions:
Tint.
Lowering.
Clear Side Indicators
Rims (bigger and wider)
Exhaust (unrestricted and louder so we can hear the cams that the VRX have)
Headunit and Sub
it all takes time, but it's all good fun! looking good mate

Nice vrx ! Welcome to the club. The best thing would be to check out the members machines thread to see the mods that others have done so you can plan yours. There are a lot I f us in sa that are willing to help out

Wise advise! I have a TJ VR-X too, you can check my Member's Machine thread (link in signature) if you'd like some ideas.
Lowering on a good set of springs and shocks improves handling immensely, and gives it a much better stance. Apart from a Verada grill, there's not much else that needs to be done to the outside - just tint the windows and put some clear indicators on and you're set.
One of the best mods I did was to replace all the lights in the centre console with red LEDs to match the red instruments. It's not hard and it's not expensive.

Always good to have another TJ VRX in SA! Yes yes I'm being biased again. I'm not modifying mine at all. All I'm doing is retinting it and I've put clear side indicators on. I reckon since your VRX is dark blue i'd get them tinted...

I think he's talking about the No.6 cams they fitted to the VRX's and the TJ Series II engines. Not a massive difference but it meant a 5kw increase for the TJS2's over the TJS1's.
OP - nice car to start with. As said above - not too muchneeds to be done to the outside to improve it however the minor things make a difference.
- Tinted or clear side indicators
- Set of KJ Verada tails. Both ih8hsv & perry have blue magna's with verada tails and they look great. I would finish it off with a spoilerless bootlid but that's just my preference.
- Bigger rims. 18's just look right on these car's. Go with something simple with 5/6 spokes etc I think some of the falcon XR series rims look good. I also like the 380 VRX S3 wheels that hypermagna has.
- Lowering. Get a set of boge shocks and king lows and it'll look mint. Don't need to slam it down hard to look nice. Red Valdez's ride is a great example.
- Colour coded door handles off a L/W magna/verada
- Bigger exhaust tip! Fill out the space in the bumper
- Maybe a ralliart spoiler if you like that. I hate them but some people like them. To me they're far too big and obnoxious. Great for drying clothes off the back though :P
- Maybe a front strut brace and/or upgrade the rear sway bar if you want to improve handling.
- A nice detail and wax ;)
Car should look pretty sweet with the above mods. Other than that you'll need to look into custom body kits or the like. I've seen a fair share of VR-X's and they can look great with a few mods and some good maintenance.
Install a nice audio system and you're set. Awesome cruiser.
Welcome to the club - Enjoy your stay
Maybe rock up to a SA meet? The SA blokes don't bite too much.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! definitely some cool looking stuff there, just some more questions:
a) Where abouts do you get most your parts from? I've had a look on ebay there seems to be a few things on there.
b) Are there many installation guides floating around? or i guess i could always just post my situation in a thread :P
Cheers!!

What kind of parts are you talking about?
If you're talking about second-hand parts off other models, then usually it's from wreckers or from other AMC members. Forum sponsor Mits-fix wreck heaps of Magnas so they'll usually have what you're after.
Brand new parts - you can alternate between local specialists (i.e. suspension stores will sell you springs and shocks) and eBay...

Okay so there's a few good sources then, i guess im thinking e.g. Clear side indicators, Dark TJ Taillights etc.

Clear side indicators are cheap as chips new from Mitsubishi - they're off a 380 and fit without modification.
Dark TJ tails can usually be found on eBay. But again, why not post up a Wanted to Buy thread to see if there's a second-hand set you can get for cheaper?

You can do angel eyes, projectors, painting etc
You could also think about KJ tails which look very nice!

And a splash of black paint for the towbar. You can buy nice looking plastic covers for the tow ball from Super Cheap. I paid about $5 for mine. Sure beats a cut off tennis ball :woot:

Are they legal?

Angel eyes are perfectly legal. Under 3w power consumption, white and facing forwards. Meet all requirements.
Projectors are perfectly legal also providing you use halogen bulbs. No one does and i have yet to hear of anyone getting defected from my mods. Properly align them and there won't be any problems

An even better idea is just to polish it (http://s220.photobucket.com/albums/dd31/89djm/?action=view¤t=IMG_2223.jpg)...
