Hi all,
I have a 01 TJ VR-X and recently my car decided not to start, it would crank but never actually start, then the engine light would come up. I shorted pin 1 of the diagnostic connector to get the engine light to blink it's code at me and it came up with 22, which is the Crank Angle Sensor.
At first I thought, beauty, replace that, off we go. But I've been reading a few threads that mention the CAS fault code (amongst other reasons) can come up even when the car just has trouble starting, or even for someone who just needed a new battery... so how can i be sure it definately is the CAS??
(it wouldn't jump start either so I'm guessing that means it's not just the battery, and I'm getting the right voltage to the CAS connector. I've disconnected the battery for a while which i think resets the ECU and the fault just comes up again next time i try tick it over)
(On another note: I'm at 200k so i think I'm due another timing belt change, should i do this at the same time? (i.e. same area isn't it? taking off same bits to get to the CAS??)
Any advice would be great!!
Price for a CAS anyone?
Many thanks!! = )
