So after changing a head gasket on my car it wouldnt start. It cranks. There is fuel and spark and the timing has been set manually. Im not sure if the ECU handles timing. We also replaced the inlet manifold gasket.

The car is a 1992 magna Elite with an executive engine and a manual gearbox. The carhas never had problems until the head gasket was put in. After a lot of testing the engine showed a sign of life. With a few big squirts of "start ya bastard" and the throttle fully open the car idled slowly. It ran by itself without anymore aerostart and stopped when i eased the throttle off. I have no clue what is wrong with it. I think i need an exorcist.

Check ignition timing and if it's not that, check cam timing. (Assuming you have a 2.6L)

I used to know that, but then I upgraded to V6 only Magnas, so I forgot that. lol

I do remember it is really easy to put the distributor back in incorrectly, though. Then the engine farts and splutters and is hard to start.

Thankyou for the help. It was the distributor! Luckily one of my dads mates knew a lot about magnas and could get the distributor on the right way. The car started first shot.
