View Full Version : Putting colour matched headlights on TL Magna ES

I discovered while installing some colour matched headlight assemblies from a higher spec car to my TL ES that the indicator globe sockets are completely different and not compatible. The TL ES uses spade connector blocks but the colour coded ones I bought from Malcolm use a more modern weatherproof locking connector that uses pins.

I'm unsure if this is a TL-TW difference or an ES-LS/Verada/VR/VRX difference. Ergo, not sure if it's model spec or the year of manufacture.

Therefore, be aware that you may also need the sockets from the wiring harness off the donor car to complete this job. In my case I just got funky with a soldering iron, electrical tape and silicon but that was a last resort solution.

My KL Verada (non colour coded headlights) has the same spade connector as your TL.

My KL Verada (non colour coded headlights) has the same spade connector as your TL.

Sounds like the design changed with the TW then. I'll see if Malcolm has any bits I can use because while my hack-job works but I don't think it's long-term weatherproof.

So has this been pinpointed to a solution, is the different socket a design change in the TW/KW Series?,

I am looking to go with some colour coded headlights myself on my KL, looks like I might have to look at Mits Fix for a pair of indicator sockets from a TW/KW

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but better that than startihg a new one on the same thing
