Hi, My daughter has a1995 V6 Verada sedan. She has spotted a 1996 Verada towbar for sale and has asked me if it would fit. I noticed the catorgries run to 1995 and then from 1996. Did the shape change. Appreciate any advice. Cheers

Hi,
There was a model and shape change in 1996 from the TS to the TE.
The TR/TS were the rounded version from 1992 to 1996 and the TE/TF/TH from 1996 to 2000 were all almost identical for parts (throw in the TJ with a slightly different bonnet and boot).
So, in 1996 you need to confirm which model the tow bar is for, just about any other year you don't.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I will see if my daughter can find out if it is of a 96 TS or a 96 TE . Much appreciated.

If your daughter owns a 95 Verada, that will be a KR/KS Verada and she will need a towbar to suit 91-96 KR/KS veradas.

If the advertised towbar claims to fit a 96 Verada, then it will either suit the 91-96 KR/KS veradas or the 96 onwards veradas (KE/KF/KH... etc). She will need to check with the seller.

Also, (and I could be wrong about this aspect) as far as I know, a Magna towbar will not fit a Verada because the verada has a longer bumper and thus the towbar needs to be longer to clear it. So she will need a Verada specific towbar. It would be good if someone else could clarify that.

KR where the verada that had the big bumper and KS had a standard width bumper :)

I'm pretty sure the KS has the bigger bumpers as well. I know mine does. The original post stated the towbar for sale is for a verada so as long as the models are the same it should be fine.

Is there any difference between sedan and wagon towbars?

The KS had standard front bumper and extended rear bumper. I know for a fact that the 3rd gen Veradas need a different towbar tongue section and possibly the 2nd gens as well.

Thanks for all the info, I've passed it on to my daughter. Cheers

What your daughter may also require doing is to cut away the bumper a bit so that the tongue does not sit too low. See my profile pic. I can post up a better one if required.

A TS tow assembly will fit a KS verada well enough for light tow work, the TS Hayman-Reese tongue sticks out almost a foot from the rear of the vehicle, what are you planning to tow? I just pulled the tow assembly off my Si, which should be perfect for a KS, provided you don't want to go hoicking light caravans or anything.

Also, be warned, the standard TS/KS is not rated for a whole lot of ball weight, I managed to exceed my legal limit on the executive with an unloaded twin axle car trailer. Mind you, my Si pulled an executive from Katoomba to gosford (including pennant hills road in peak hour) on that same trailer without issue (still way over its limit, but if they're less strict on it in QLD, it gives you a good idea what they're capable of)
