Hi

I want to remove the wiper arms on my KH Verada as the paint is peeling off and I want to repaint them.
I take it you just remove the dome nut that holds them in place and prise them off ? how hard is it to prise them off ?
Will mark position of wipers on screen so as to replace in same position.

thanks in advance for replies

There should be a nut towards the base. Simply unscrew and take that of. Considering weather they can be a tad stuck so a half decent yank might be in order. They are metal so as-long as your not too brutal it should come of. :)

PS: Before yanking make sure there is no lock pins or the like still on.

No need to take them off. Turn on ignition, activate wipers and turn off ignition when arms are vertical. Use a wire brush to remove grot. Mask off area with newspaper and masking tape, spray a few coats of matte black (or whatever). Let dry, remove paper, perhaps change wiper blades, good as new.

Taking them off is a lot easier than sufficiently masking the whole area!

You just undo the nut and take them off.

Buy them new from Mitsubishi. They're not all that expensive and lets face it, they'll look better with new ones... ;)

That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard since I was near Bob Katter when he was speaking. 1 bolt frees the arm, but NO! Mask off the whole windscreen and bonnet and such and then hook in with a spray can.

They are literally under $50 new for the pair

Masking off takes literally 5 minutes.
Spray them off the car and you won't get to paint the nuts, and you may damage the fresh paint when you put the arms back on.
Also, yanking the arms off is not a good idea, too easy to damage the spindles. Splines can wear, and the nut can snap the threaded part off the spindle if you overtighten them.

But, whatever works for you. lol More than one way to skin a cat.

Can you see why I get so frustrated Mike, some of the stupid assed suggestions here I have read make me ....... you know I can not even put into words acceptable for this forum what I think ........

Max, pull your head in, simple, if you are not a total twat you WILL NOT snap off nuts, you WILL NOT strip spindles ffs, some of the crap you spout here from rebuilding seatbelts to spraying a wiper arm while still on a car is pathetic, perhaps you need to keep out of the tech forums mate.

OP, take them off, 1 x 12mm nut, then once the nut is off, gently push and pull on the arm that is attached to the spindle (you know the one, the one that apparently breaks despite being approx 12mm thick). One hint, when off, give them a real good clean up, get some power plus engine enamel, give them several thin coats then when the Mrs is out, pop them in the oven on very low heat for about 20 mins to bake it all. Yes for the sale of Max, do take out the blades at from the end of the arm as there is also plastic there as well.

Agreed the new ones do look better but if you want to have a play dont be a douche and mask up part of your car, there is such a thing as over spray and half your car will be covered with little black (or pink in the case of some) dots.

Once you take that nut off, you just push down on the arm on alternating sides.
Because the bolt it's connected to is tapered, it works itself off when you push it down.
Pull it away and it sticks like a bitch and slaps you in the head when it finally comes off.

Mad Max doesn't have overspray, he has microdots for extra security!! ROFL.
