You need to detail what is being done to determine if price is correct

As Mal said, perhaps you should elaborate on what parts are being replaced and/or serviced. You asked for a 180k service. Look in your logbook, find the 180k service, read what parts are replaced or serviced and let us know.

Just my 2 cents, but I don't care if it's kmart tyre here or Beverley hills, those guys are terrible. Underskilled and over priced. Can you find anyone else to do it?

KTAS. I have my own horror story. Keep clear at all costs

+1 for horror story (happened to a mate).

Some people may disagree here but may be worth getting a price from Mitsu if you have a dealer close by. I've found where I am that they were no more expensive than 4 other quotes I got for major servicing.

I'd go an independent operator over a chain or dealer any day of the week, unless warranty work was needed.

And to be honest I wasn't 100% happy with the gut I had used for the last 7 years. Can't tell you how great it was to find thus forum and take the car to Mal :)

Don't go to a Mitsubishi Dealership. All they do is rip you off! Had my old Ralliart serviced their once. $500+ and all they did was change the oil, coolant and wipers. Didn't even wash the car for me... bloody grease all over my steering wheel. I was pissed!!!

Don't you know a decent Mechanic in your area? Ask your mates who they take their cars too. Finding a reliable mechanic that will look after you as well as do a good job can be hard for some. Ask your mates which local workshops they go to and trust.
Ultra Tune (another which can be good or bad depending on the bloke who owns it) are very reasonable in price. Roughly $250-$350 for a standard Ultratune tune and service from memory.

180,000 service:

Replace engine oil and filter
Replace engine coolant
Replace spark plugs (conventional type)
Replace air cleaner element
Check ignition timing
Replace brake fluid

Approximate labour hours: 1.5

Straight from the log book, excluding inspections.

Hence the 'stealership' tag..

OP, From what Dreggzy has described, the 180k service could he done by yourself in a couple hours, maybe get the assistance of a mate with the brake flush (we did our brake flush in about half an hour)
It's not complicated, you just need to be prepared with empty receptacles for the used oil, coolant and brake fluids, and some basic tools

IF they are doing by the book, then the price quoted is quite reasonable, just look at the materials such as filters, fluids etc. Remember that they will also check parts of the of the car that the average lay person will not and may pick up items that will need attention soon, often is cheaper to fix these parts before issues start

Should take a normal person with basic tools and trolley jack about 3 hours. I could do it in about 2 if you are local to Sydney. Shoot me a pm if you need a hand.

Agreed. About $400-500 is quite an average and reasonable price.
