After market refers to anything that wasn't fitted by the factory or by the dealer.

Anywhere that supplies or fits car alarms will be able to do an after market remote central locking kit for you.

Yes you can remote control the after market central locking setups (unless you don't want to) but the remote will obviously change so you won't be using the factory mitsu remotes any more.

No idea how that affects the resale of the car though.

From past experience, if the aftermarket central locking is part of an aftermarket alarm kit, the resale improves slightly (easier to sell anyway).

u should be able 2 get an actuator from the reckors for less than that price. and in easy enough to replace yourself. would be the cheaper way to go. especially if u need to get the aftermarket system fitted.

From personal experience, the Dick Smith DIY alarms aren't worth the receipt you get for them. Why? Because my brother had one fitted and the thieves simply smashed the back window with a hammer-and-chisel then slid into the front seat and turned the sensitivity down.

We found his stereo missing the next day.

If you're going to get a car alarm, pay the extra money to get a professionally fitted one. Main reasons are:

1) if it plays up (ie. sensors are off-calibration or simply goes off continuously for no reason) you can take it to them to get fixed for no charge.
2) Insurance companies often drop your premium if your car has a recognised alarm installed (and the receipt of installation to prove it).

ultratune told me that the acturator will cost $900 plus labour few will be $100 plus.
combine those price will be $1000+, ,not worth it, thats why he recommend me to go to autobarn get the aftermarket one, tell them need to do strach again.
Thats why I wonder, should i get aftermarket one? will they have warrantty. how much does it cost to aftermarket central locking and alram. will 300 dollars cover it all?

Is it a case of you trying to open with the key / plinker and the locks cycling rapidly..

If so what has happened is that a little rubber buffer at one side of the actuator quadrant has either gone spongy or fallen off inside the actuator.

PM me if this is the case and I can explain how to find which one and how to fix.

Otherwise get a good secondhand one from a breakers.

$900 is not right. Worst that I have heard is $300. Go ask a Mitsu dealer to quote.

I wouldn't blame the alarm, I'd blame the person who installed it. OK a smashed window is not going to trigger an alarm unless you have a shock sensor that is so sensitive that a cat farting sets it off, or you have ultrasonic, microwave, or glass break sensors. Secondly, if the thief was so easily able to turn down the sensitivity on the shock sensor, where the hell was it mounted, on the dashboard in plain view? I also doubt this would happen as I would simply disconnect the shock sensor instead of risk setting it off by turning the dials.

All alarms are basically a collection of relays, timers, and diodes and paying more only gives you the brandname, more features, and better build quality. I have had no bad experiences with any brand alarm I have installed.

I'm a rihno dealer and installer and without a doubt would recomend using a rihno RA alarm thay are approved to as 3749 . Also get the standard acutaor replced with a mitsubishi guenine item or use a central locking kit that cost about $100 , anycheaper and you are invitining problems . For a maxim security situation i would recomend using only two wire motors and only having control of the system from remote . by the way insurance dicounts only applie if the alarm is built to as 3749.1 1997 and installed to as3749.2 1997 . www.rhino.com.au note :i have fixed this address lol

I would put a genuine actuator in.. But if your looking for a decent car alarm spend the right amount of money and go for something that has: Black Wiring, Triple immobiliser, Rolling Codes, Central Locking Outputs and have it installed professionally. I have done plenty of installs in my time and let me tell you, you get what you pay for.. Oh, don't go to Strathfields and buy a $20-$30 central locking kit, they are terrible.

genuine actuator cost $538(brand new), second hand one qoute $200, problem with seconf hand one, it could cause more problem. but $538, can ask ppl professional fit with aftermarket central locking and alarm.

My machanic say $400 just for central locking, if need alarm will need to add extra $300. still searching suiayble type and price.
