Recently finished the full servo on my car, new oil, sparky's ect.. -also let out some air in the tyres because apparently the guy i bought it off had them too full and making the ride bumpy as sh#$.

Running all nicely, smooth ect but the bastard everytime i turn the steering wheel to a little bit over one whole wheel lock to the left (of the two) and it will squeek asif its rubbing metal everytime the wheel does a revolution.. so u can imagine how stoopid i look whenever turning left.. new verada, squeeek squeeek squeek.

now it doesnt ever do it when im turning right or before i did the service... what are the correct tyre pressures? im fairly sure we put the fronts at 36psi and the backs 34psi?

The right pressure for your tyres is located on the placard on the drivers side door frame.

Check the inside of your tyre to make sure it isnt bald..

Also put your wheel on full left lock and hop out and see if its almost rubbing against the front inside guard. If it is almost rubbing you will find your wheel has a bit of move in it when in motion, hence the squeeking or rubbing sound.

I had the same problem in my KJ verada, gave it to mitsu and they found it to be the "rear brake shoes", and now its all good! I had the same symptoms u are having a grinding noise everytime i turned the front wheels. GOod Luck Wif it!

How big (or small) is the job, howmuch would it cost for the part? and is labour long on what needs to be done?

well mate, they did it in a day. However for me it was covered under warranty so it was free. The guy did come on a test drive and asked me to describe the sound and as i described it he said it was the REAR BRAKE SHOES. As always the car behaves itself when being assessed and no squeek came at the time, however they did say it was a common problem in magna\verada's and they fixed it free of charge under warranty so im not sure of the exact cost sorry.

The common squeak problem was actually the result of a poorly designed return spring system on the rear handbrake assembly. Last i heard Mitsubishi was sueing PBR for this problem. I had 3 new TJ's (Series1) and they all did it. Several visits to Service and all they did was clean the brake dust out. Good again for a few weeks then back again.

I now have a Series II and tried a TL with no problems so they must of got it sorted.

Try pulling up your handbrake when you hear the squeeling and see if it dissapears, then you will know.

does anyone know how much it will cost to fix this problem without warranty? this squeak doesn't come on all the time on my car but when it does it's bloody annoying and not to mention attention grabbing  !

God, this is a problem i cant beleive i missed...

I'm really hoping that its as Jegi#5 says and it will be some minor modifying of the Rear Brake Shoes... amazingly as gausse has mencioned it doesn't happen all the time and is more prominent when i've just jumped in the car while not driving for afew hours... whereas if im doing some highway driving i'll be listening for it but with no cigar..

Cheers for the help peeps, got a much better idea of the problem after most of your posts... its almost as if knowing others have the problem relieve abit of tension :doubt:
