I've always used Ryco without problems. I don't think Mitsu make their own branded filters anyway.
Price difference? Donno, but you could make a few phone calls and find out.

I used to use genuine when I could get them for $9 each but price has changed so just use a ryco one

I've had my K&N for 5 yrs now and no problems.
I clean mine out with the recharge kit every 3 months. The kits last a fair while

i use genuine. I've had a K&N one and didn't like it purely from the maintenance side of things. The genuine are cheap so i don't mind paying for it when replacement is needed
Vague question is vague! Oil, fuel or air filter? Oil - Ryco, fuel - Ryco/SCA, air - k&n oval pod

I use genuine for everything, K&N draw power, I would not use Ryco on a lawn mower
The person who wants to save a whole $5 on an oil filter should really sit back and think how important the motor is, I have covered this in the past, most of the aftermarket filters are multi fit, with Mits filters they are designed for that motor and not a range of motors running different oil pressures and volumes

What other filters can you get but ryco? My local shops only have their stuff. Whats wrong with their air filters?

Waeco, Valvoline, Drift and K&N make oil filters too, all of which are readily available from Bursons and Repco. But I'd stick with either the genuine value select parts or go the Sakura filters if you can find them http://www.sakuracatalogue.com/filter/sakura/filter_home.php

But are there any other air filters apart from the shitty k&n? and what are the differences in oil filters? I've never heard of anybody having issues with ryco oil filters, my car runs fine on them.

BITOG has lots of info on oil filters, have a look. Doing an oil analysis is the only way to find out if the oil and filter are working well.
You can't go wrong with the genuine filters, than again with Ryco you can't go wrong either. Personal choice, guys.

That's what I thought, not sure what genuine ones go for but I see Mal in a couple of weeks so might grab some of him while I'm there :)

I've always used genuine filters, they are the best quality. The last oil filter I got was under $20 and is made in Japan, unlike Ryco which now comes from china but still cost the same as when they were Australian made. If you want to do 15,000 km oil changes as per the book you must use a genuine filter and a high quality oil.
The last air filter I got was around $40 from Mitsu.
It only costs a few dollars more to have genuine. Shop around the different dealers as prices vary a lot.

I use ACDelco oil filters, and genuine Mitsubishi air and fuel filters. I've had no issue with the ACDelco oil filters, and their quality seems to be up there (that said, I've not cut one in half to properly inspect)
Mitsubishi's VSP oil filters are made by Phoenix, as far as I know.

I also do Sakura in my eBay store but for all workshop filters I use genuine
From memory my Sakura kit with fuel, air and oil is about $49 for all 3
Cheap! Might have to buy 3 or 4 oil filters off you, and a fuel filter or 2.
