HI guys,

This is a re-post from the 'car audio' section as I got no response over there, hoping someone here can help me out?

Just wondering if someone can tell me where I might find the speedo wire in my 380? I'm installing an AVN6000 and it's all I have left to do. Any help would be appreciated. Obviously it would be under the cluster somewhere, but a color and best location to splice would be awesome!

Only the manual has a separate speedo pick up, down the back of the engine on top of the diff housing, the autos use an output from the ABS wheel sensors via the ECU.

I am assuming what you are saying in stupid people terms is that it cannot be done (easily) in my car?

I think the Auto used the oupput shaft sensor on the trans to get the pulse and then the ECU translates the pulse for the speedo similar to what teh TL/W did, going by this you could then pick up from the harness to the inst cluster however you really need to be careful that you do not upset the CANBUS system as if there is an interruption to any signal you will start having systems stop dead

In the Magna's, right up to the TW, there was a VSS wire in the diagnostic plug under the left hand side of the dash. Do the 380's not have this?

I can certainly read/log the SAE.VSS pid from the OBDII diagnostic port output using software on iPhone or PC.

Not sure what you would need to leave plugged in to the port to get a the signal to your AVN head unit!

This is what I thought is all I would have to do. when I installed the unit into my wifes outlander a few years ago, all I had to do was call the local car audio place and ask them which wire on the Diagnostic plug i needed to tap and it was done. nobody seems to be able to tell me if this is possible or which wire it is with my 380 though :(

You can buy a tool, and i think Jaycar keep them, that looks like a circuit tester. It hooks on to 12 volts and as you probe the wires, you need to drive slowly and if you have the correct wire, the tool will beep and the LED will flash for every speed pulse.
That might be your best bet.

Download the manual it's on the internet.

pin 11 of the AT ecu is easier but if you stuff it there will be pain.
