just wondering what plugs plugs people are using in the rear banks

i know they should be platinums / iridiums but is there much differance between them

ngk locally are 23.00 each when a 3 pack of bosh platinums is just under 40.00 just wondering if the bosh are that poor quality that i should spend the extra on the ngk or not

Considering that you only change them every 100k's, I would fork out the extra dosh to get the best quality possible. They are a massive pain to get to as well.

That depends how familiar you are with removing the plenum chamber. :-)

I've gotten it down to about 10 minutes. But then that's just because my freakin' valve cover is still leaking! LOL

The NGK are fine. I believe NGK platinums are fitted from factory on the rear bank.

Those prices are ridiculous!
Check on line, you can get them much cheaper.
I've got 2 packs of 4 NGK BKR5EGP's sitting here, sure didn't cost me $200 or so!

Rockauto.com, AU $2.22 each. AU $38.44 for 8 plugs, including postage, delivered to my letterbox in a week or so. (Current prices)

Bought a set of 8 a while back, might as well do the whole lot when needed.

Another site to get cheap spark plugs is titan.direct, see this link for the NGK BKR5EGP G-Power Platinum plugs:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NGK-BKR5EGP-G-Power-Platinum-Spark-Plugs-Set-6-Infiniti-Kia-Mazda-More-/230821114979?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item35be02b463

I got my last set of NGK BKR6EGP from them a few months ago, cheapest I could find at the time.
(You want heat rating 5 plugs for a stock 6G7x motor, I use the slightly 'colder' 6 plugs coz my motor is tuned for 98 RON fuel with advanced timing and leaner AFRs)

Buying those plugs off ebay is signficantly cheaper than buying locally.

I don't have platnium plugs but I do use NGK IridiumIX ones due to my lpg system. For a set of 6, I would've had to pay around $120 locally, but I ended up paying $50 including postage through a seller on ebay.

From memory, the platinum plugs that mitsubishi use are actually NGK. Will have to check them (still got them lying around somewhere). I don't run platniums but I'm confident and able to get to the back plugs so I'm happy to do so when the times comes. I've had IridiumIX's for around 30,000kms and they still look good. Car starts no problems and runs great. I'll probably change them when they hit 40,000-50,000km's.

I use genuine plugs, which if I recall correctly are Champion RC10PYP4

Yep, the NGK BKR5EGP is a platinum plug.

My NGK BKR6EGP's were in for 60,000k before I replaced them three weeks ago, and they still looked pretty good, they probably would have lasted to 100,000k+ with no problems.
