I am about to put some HID's in the missus TW and just wonder if anyone has a pic from the manual that shows where the bolts are located to remove the headlights. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you using a plug n play kit or are you doing a projector retrofit? high beams or low beams?

Just using a plug and play kit. I figure the light has to be brighter than what they are. Doing both high and lows and figure it will be easier to have the lights out rather than struggle with no room.

Speaking from experience you'll be wasting time and money with a plug n play kit,i had one of these kits installed on my TW and thrown on a headlight alignment machine and the results were shocking to say the least light went everywhere and when you get light above the cut off line it's a big no no as you'll be dazzling oncoming drivers, needless to say we ripped them out straight away.A retro fit is the only safe way of doing it.
In the high beams it's not much of an issue though as you turn them off when you see an oncoming cars headlights.
Sorry to tell you but it's the reality.

Thanks for the headsup. Do you happen to have a diagram or be able to tell me exactly where the bolts are located?

I seriously do not recommend putting just a HID kit in. If you are serious spend the extra money for a projector installation. I can send you the parts or i can do them for you but you will not be happy with the results with just the kit. And i am pretty sure you are going to dazzle the wrong cop

i had a TL TW pass me with HID and i almost crashed trying to pull over as they really was blinding only magna headlights that can be used without a projector is the parabolic headlights.

It's not worth doing it. The little extra light they put on the road (which IDK if they even do) is not worth the vehicle being defected and you being fined (which will probably end up exceeding the cost of a projector retrofit anyway)

I had HIDs in my parabolics before I did my projector retrofit. Low beam was pretty so-so, but high beam was actually quite decent with HIDs behind them. I thought they were definitely worth it. Also didn't have any hassles from police in the two years I had them in for.
Having said that though, I've only heard bad things about HIDs in the TL-TW lights. Best bet would be to stick with some good globes (e.g. Philips +100s) or do a projector retrofit + HID kit.
FYI, the L and W series also use parabolic headlights as do the 380s. They just have a slightly different parabolic shaping. Our 07 Outlander also has parabolic headlights and these ones can actually house HIDs (which were an option). The parabolic reflector of the Outlander is all vertical stripes whereas the L and W and 380 has horizontal ones which are not good for HIDs. E to J series parabolics also do not have the horizontal ones. Have a look at the following pics. Notice the difference between my KW and the Outlander, both running Philips Xtreme 100+ bulbs.
KW Headlight (has horizontal surfaces):

380 Headlight (has horizontal surfaces):

Outlander Headlight (no horizontal surfaces):

TJ VRX Headlight (no horizontal surfaces):

Light output of KW:

Light output of Outlander:

Thus the L and W series as well as the 380s do not support HID. Just do as MrSPL suggests.

Guys, the OP did NOT ask for opinions on HID, what car has what etc etc, this is one of the reasons that getting info on AMC sucks...he asked for the bolt positoins so if you are not anwering where the bolts are just move on and dont fill up a perfectly simple thread with opinions. I understand there is concern, start a new thread or PM him
OP, if you want to drop past here sometime I will print off the relevant sheets from the manual for you showing the bolts or you can look at a TL I have here to see yourself

Thanks Mal. Wow, i dont mind getting some advice BUT.... If these are no good, the simple solution is to remove them. No big deal really. But i will be leaving them in the high beams anyway as this is not so crucial. I for one am not going to be stupid enough to leave something in that firstly will attract the coppers, but more importantly is a danger to other drivers. Mal, perhaps i should have just PM'd you in the first place but i know how busy you are. If i can get up to you, i will. Thanks for the offer anyway.
