I keep Guinea Pigs so monthly trips for Lucerne hay is part of the usual scenario around here. The carpet in the back of the Magna is a pest with this stuff - the lucerne sticks to it like crazy so I bought a bootliner at Northshore Mitsubishi today (see pic - part #MR925698 - $173.50) to solve the hassle of cleaning the carpet every time I collect hay.

Anyway immediately after that was fittted I went all the way up Liverpool RD/Hume highway and out to Catherine Fields and home again and the car is considerably quieter now. I mean it wasn't noisy before by any means but the boot mat must have muffled some kind of road noise resonances in the boot area as overall noise is down, and the slight thump thump on concrete roads is lessened as well. So there you go - a Pig proof boot and free noise reduction!

combined with a dynamat trunk kit (http://www.dynamat.com/car_trunk_kits.htm) and Mitsu boot lid liner (pictured) it'd be interesting to see exactly by how much road noise, exhaust resonance, cabin boom etc are reduced...
