So I wrote my TJ VR-X off :headbange::headbange::headbange:

Replaced with a S1 380 VRX, Its all very lovely but the steering audio controls are either very cryptic or not working properly.

When I hop in and start the car I can use them for about about a minute or so, then they cease to function - I assume this isn't how they are supposed to work ? Seems to start working occasionally but I cant "make" it work, so really not sure whats making it come right.

How hard is the wiring for them to get to ? also has anyone else had this fault and if so was it the wiring in the wheel or somewhere else ?

Many thanks

Oh as an aside I had a quick look and this one seems to have the larger US air intake as standard - was this the case for the NZ 380's ?

Okay so a slight update, they work when the wheel is rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise...

Two things to check, input wiring on headunit for steering wheel controls to see if connections are fine. Then check the steering wheel control terminals to see if they are loose. Second test is to conduct a loop test using a digital multimeter if you're getting a closed look when you press the button on the wheel.

The clock springs may not be seated correctly. Previous owner may have taken the steering wheel off.

Intake was standard for NZ.
