Hey there,I bought my first Magna a 97 Altera Wagon, very impressed with the performance..The drivers side CV is really clunking
Q.whats the best way of replacing the CV Joint,I was thinking of just buying the outer one off ebay but was wondering if the ball holder part of the shaft would be worn-out as well as the inner-cup..
I know replacing the whole thing with a reco one is the easiest way, although I just want to know what parts do they replace and whether or not they weld and remachine the parts?
thanks

your far better off with a reco one, then your not stuffing around ring a few drive shaft places in most cases the price they offer makes it not even worth stuffing around doing it your self

Don't bother with reco rubbish, decent new ones are only $135 each

Yeah, $79 each will buy you awesome shafts that will last all of 12 months if you are lucky, I have a heap of those cheapo shafts here in a bin somewhere if you want some

repco do pretty decent cv shafts, i am not sure on cost for a magna, but they have 2 YEAR 40,000 km warranty. they are not as good as oem, but still not bad.

There's also a place in Vic that do them with a 3yr Warranty.

I had these in my old TF and after 2 yrs or so.. They were still going strong, I've sold the car and am now in need of a set of CVs.

So i'll be ordering mine from old mate in Vic.
