Guys. It says in the specs for an 88 TN that at idle, in neutral, the revs should be 800 plus or minus 50. My car is running at about 950. what do I do about this?

Well, i had to adjust my idle speed when i got my car, its a carby so i will describe how i did it.

Get someone to watch the tacho, and on theb ack of the carby, there is a little whitish / yellowish know, turn that until the engine idles at the correct speed. :D

Think yourself lucky. Mine's idling at 550-600... ECI. Any suggestions?

It's been doing it since storage.

carbi or efi, just adjust the screw and make sure that everything is A1 eg plugs, leads, coil ect ect. AND burp your coolant system

Mine used to idle at 1200rpm! Dad adjusted it but then I had carby problems. So it's of to the carby specialist again for the 3rd time. Thats the troubles u get after the car hasnt been started in 7 years.

Ok the problems gone, just wound the screw, but i gotta ask WHAT IS BURPING YOUR COOLANT SYSTEM.

Screw wasn't the problem. A new throttle cable helped.

Didn't need to burp the system... Blew a ****ing hose whilst we were testing the adjustment to the cable!!

how do you burp your system? just leave the radiator cap off while you run it? i'm gonna adjust the idle screw before i leave this morning cause ive got a slow run into the city, should be good for a testing session on the way there rather then going round my block 400 times.
