Had a friend of mine back into my door today, there is no damage to anything but the skin.

I don't think PDR is going to happen because there is a bit of a crease. Local body works guys are all wankers, put gently, so I would rather not have them use 15KG of bog and respray half my car.

I was hoping I could just swap the door over, rear passenger, for a non damaged door. I am a little bit hesitant because of the frame less windows and everything fitting correctly.

Anyone got any tips?

How do you know a PDR can't fix it? You'd be surprised at the intensity of the dints they can pull out. Check youtube for the massive dints the right tools and skills can fix. Unless the metal is actually stretched and the spot where the damage is has a unusual manufacturer based style crease, most dints can be pulled out by the right person.

Also - I'd rather recommend a respray than replacement. You'll never get a perfect matching door. From memory your car is black? that's probably one of the hardest colours to match. Even off the factory floor, do paint shades differ let alone after years of use, washing, polishing and exposure to the sun.

If you want to do it yourself look at getting a a PDR kit off ebay. Some aren't very cheap but it's probably cheaper than actually paying a real PDR and/or panel shop. At the very least you'd want a slide hammer or dent puller, a hot glue gun, lots of tabs for the slide hammer, as well as maybe a suction cup, a PDR dent hammer with a few different tips, and a tap down set. I'd recommend also using a heatgun and choose a nice sunny day.

Here's a picture of some of the tools I'm talking about - slide hammer, glue gun, tabs,

Or a dent puller

However a slide hammer won't always do it. Often you'll need a prybar or a PDR style bar to pull out and push the dint from behind the door. Like here:

Oh please, why woudl you spend thousands of dollars to fix a dent when you should be able to pick up a complete door for around the $100 to $200 mark, then there is no reason to change over anything but the door, being a rear door is a very easy and straight forward replacement with the biggest thing being to remove the b pillar plastics so as to get access to the wiring plug.

The whole point of PDR is to avoid spending 1000's. You could buy yourself all the tools you need to do the job for a reasonable size dent for around $200.

It would be possible to do a straight bolt-off bolt-on swap but the OP would need to find a TJS2/KJS2 black wreck with power windows.

From memory - the OP's car colour is black. There aren't many black magna's around, and even if they do find a black door it still won't match up in colour properly. They'll need to have it blended which would cost anouther few $100's anyway. Could use that money to fix the current car if the paint isn't badly damaged and/or the dint hasn't stretched the metal.

Yes Wagon and Sedan doors are the same, dont know why OP has to get a TJII door

I have swapped many doors and panels for people and the paint does match provided the car and the new panel have factory paint

Post up pics of the damage..

You may be able to pull the dent using a glue pull tab - I have a set at home and it has worked WONDERS on my car.

Best way to do it mate, just in case there's any further damage you can't see. (My mates lancer hit a roo and now he has tiny fractures through all his windows they didn't see on initial inspection, however as he did it all on insurance, he has been able to claim all the new glass on the same claim)
