I have had a ticking noise from my engine since I got it at 89,000km, it is now at 170,000km and hasn't changed much, it sounds a bit like a diesel. If I disable No 2 injector the noise goes away. I tried swapping injectors around to see if I could move the problem to another cyliner but it stays with No 2.
It only does it at idle when fully warmed up.

My TL has that slight diesel sound as well - only when fully warmed up and only at idle. Haven't tried tracing the source of mine though - which cylinder is #2?
Exhaust side tappet that only ticks when opening under the higher load present when combusted gases are in that cylinder? Not sure if load would actually change when the cylinder is firing or not but just a thought!

Is it a sharp metal clacking or a dull pounding? Can you film it and link to YouTube or something? Dozen things could be making a ticking noise.

Standing in front of the car it is in the front bank on the left. You can pull the plug off the injector while the engine is running to disable the injector. Also can be done with evoscan.
The sound is like a diesel at idle. Will try to upload a video soon.
