Hi guys new to the forum, my brother recently pruchased a 1998 verada KF xi hasnt used it yet because his waiting on replacement parts for a water pump/timing belt.
In the meantime though had the battery out to do a full charge as it was practically dead, i had plugged the battery back in a couple of times to test/start car worked fine. Only recently when I plugged the battery though the alarm (didnt know it had one) started sounding and flashing, now everytime i plug the battery the alarm kicks in . Anyone know how to fix/disable(rather not) as i need to get it to the mechanics to fix the pump . BTW didnt get a remote with the car so will also be looking at getting one.
Also anyone have the wiring diagrm for the stk alarm ? And does anyone know if the immobiliser kicks in as well? tried to start it with the alarm on but was not turning over(could just be the batt dunno ?)

I have searched through some of the forums and the consensus is possibly bonnet lock so will look at disabling that and retesting. Let you know how that goes
Just FYI, a new remote for the KF Xi costs about $300 each brand new from Mitsubishi.

2008 quote from Mits. I went to a few different dealers because I thought I was being ripped off, but they all quoted a similar price.

Thanks Karj, Is there an alternative source for these remotes? Dont really want to fork out that much otherwise ill have a look at installing an aftermarket instead any suggestions :D

In the KF XI, you should be able to disable the alarm by unlocking the door with the key when the battery is reconnected. The alarm is integrated into the door locks as opposed to other cars where the factory alarms go nuts when you use a key to get in.
Give it a go. The alarm in the KF XI is an ETACS system. This is very different to later cars and also all the other TF lower spec cars which is why your remote is so expensive.

I was lucky and bought a couple brand new off a guy on eBay a year ago for $50 each, but he doesn't seem to be selling them anymore. You could try local wreckers for 2nd hand ones
This is what they look like...

I believe the Mitsubishi part number is MR207965, but you may want to check that at your local Mits dealer.
As far as I'm aware, the KS Verada remotes (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-x-Mitsubishi-Magna-Verada-Remote-Central-Locking-Remotes-1991-1995-model-/180937212232?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a20b2c148) look very similar, but have different part numbers and don't work with the KF Xi (so don't accidentally buy those).
And for future reference, if you do buy a new remote, you'll find that the instructions in the book (turning key from off to on 5 times or something like that) will not get the KF Xi into programming mode. This is how you get the car into programming mode:

Well tried disabling the boot sensor (unplugged the cable) still getting the beeping horn/flashing lights the moment i plug the batt even with all doors closed .Even after i put the key in and started the car the alarm would go on for a couple of min then turn off thats with all the doors closed. The moment I open the door/bonnet the alarm kicks in again cant seem to trace where the wiring goes, can see it passes in front of the radiator.... then dont know lol any ideas ?
.......well anyone know how to just disable the alarm system altogether? its kinda annoying albeit less since i disconnected the horn relay
Thanks mcs_Xi for the idea but probably look into something cheaper (my bro is stingy :D) . Disabling the alarm should have no effect on the immobiliser right ? Has anyone tried replacing the keyless entry with a different unit but keeping the same central locking motors on the doors or is there some sort of power/electrics issue?
Too many annoying probs with this car but with 176km on the clock and bought really cheap its not a bad car..... once I sort out all the gremlins. Btw just tried the head unit cant tell if it works or not :S the lcd screen just displays 1 (i think from the cd stacker) but when i try to switch to radio, tape etc nothing .... welll ill bother you guys with that another time. First things first.

Probably a long shot you dont happen to have any do you :D

Sorry dude, I don't.
Edit: The radio will need you to enter the security code. If you don't have it, copy down your VIN and go into a Mits dealer and they should be able to look it up on their computer system. The radio code needs to be re-entered whenever you have unplugegd the battery.

The Alarm is part of the ETACS system and cannot be disabled. (If it could that would be kinda missing the point of a security system)
The ETACS ECU is behind the fusebox and is hooked into everything. So do not take it out.

So what would happen if I wanted to replace the alarm system?
Can I at least turn off the alarm system eg remove a fuse to disable it so it wont keep going off for the moment so it can at least be driven??

You will need to get a new ETACS module from a KF XI (and it must be a KF too)
Mike
Is it likely to be the ETACS module though, or one of the door switches?

I didn't leap to the ETACS, however, it has a number of inputs.
The door switches, try unpligging them and seeing it that helps, same with the boot light and the bonnet switch.
Then take a look at the central locking system. Is it working correctly? Have you tried unlocking the car in the door with a key to shut the alarm off? Even if the car is already unlocked give it a go.
Then look at the central locking motors in the front door. Unlplugging them should make the doors lock.
Check the fuses in both the engine bay and the interior for anything untowards. The ETACS has its own relay in the fuse box.
If the alarm is still going mental after all that, then it will be the ETACS.
