As i've posted before this place did a 90k service including timing belt. I got the car back with all sorts of dramas. A bolt on the timing cover was almost completely out and rubbing on the power steering belt and the cover was not on properly leaving a gap. Also there was a bad buzzing sound on startup when cold. Anyway to cut this story short(i could write a book about the poor workmanship and customer service but i wont). So anyway i took it back and after having the car several times they gave it back to me again this time with a bolt totally missing and a piece of the timing cover snapped off which they had tried to glue. Each time they didnt accept that they had caused anything. Anyway they then had my car for a week and gave it back still with problems and said they couldnt have caused the problem and they are happy to diagnose the noise but i would have to pay. I ripped it up them and then when they realised it is still under warranty their attitude changed( i guess now they would charge it to mitsubishi as a warranty claim even though they caused it instead of their dealership paying for what they caused. So now the car has been back there for 10 days without even a phone call to update me. I called them today and all they could tell me was they've ordered a timing adjuster( her words ) im guessing its the pre-tensioner which i know nothing about??? Just wondering how they could have wrecked this part too???? I tried telling them that but they wouldnt listen they were adament that nothing they did could have caused problems, what a joke considering they couldnt even do a simple job such as doing up a bolt or guiding a plastic cover into a correct position so i wouldnt rule anything out from their "so called" "mechanics" Pissed off!!!!!!!

The pre tensioner or idler comes as part of the time belt kit and should have been changed the first time they had it. If they cant give you an answer call fair trading

...or MMAL head office, manufacturers hate getting bad feedback about their dealers and - in many cases - will straighten the problem out with consultation from the offending dealer

Rubbish, what a load of crap

You can get

Belt
Belt and seals
Belt, seals, pulleys
(above oem and aftermarket)
Or belt, seals, pulleys and pre tensioner

Mits recommend bare belt only and seals ONLY if they are leaking. Is silly but is what they do.

Op, please split up your posts as are doing in my head to read but from what I can tell the dealership has a lot to answer for. I would call head office and lodge a complaint. If they have been waiting 10 days for a pre tensioner they are pulling your dick as most dealerships carry them in parts, he'll even I stock them lol

Don't mess with them, go straight to head office

I've tried calling head office of Mitsubishi and they just say that they can't do anything because each Dealership is individually owned. This is ridiculous, you would think they would want to know who is representing the Mitsubishi Brand in such a negative way. I have called them before about another dealer and they didn't want to know about it. Are you meaning call that particular dealerships head office??? I will be complaining to Scott Wakeling eventually when i can get hold of him.

You can do a few things to damage their reputation. You can try the Office of Consumer and Business Affairs first. secondly, you can go to local websites eg truelocal.com.au and leave a comment in there.

Hopefully Scott Wakeling gave you a replacement car while they sort out your warranty problem?

Thanks for the advice mate, i actually posted a comment on Facebook and found out a mate of mine that i went to school with works there in parts so he is helping me a bit. Yes ive been driving a virtually brand new Hyundai (13000km) I40 which is very nice to drive so i guess they r trying.

Just an update on my 380.

I got it back today after about 6weeks in total at the dealership whilst they tried to sort out the noise they had caused when they did the routine 100k service including timing belt when the car was at 92k.

They tried replacing the timing belt again, the power steering pump, the pre tensioner, flushed all fluids, removed sump, ran every test possible and it still made the noise. They even had guys come out from Mitsubishi Head office who spent 3/4 of a day scratching their heads as to what was causing the noise.

Anyway i went in yesterday and was pleasantly suprised to hear they got approval from Mitsubishi to replace the entire "short" engine.

Got a call this afternoon and i picked the car up. Seems to be running awesome now but the real test will be my first cold start tomorrow morning which is the only time the noise is evident.

It's simple with a problem with a dealership go straight to the dealer principal. Any issues tell them you would like a call from Paul Wakeling and that will sort outhe service guys.

So cold start noise, if you shut down and restart does the noise stop

Not stop entirely but it lessened. Now they replaced the block and pistons the noise is gone.

haha, win.

I hope you flogged the guts out of that i40 lol

noise was probably the egr valve or something stupid like that. got to be pretty stoke that you get a free motor out of it though.
