Could have possibly been jimmied in a break in and then the owner tried to fix it themselves? Other than that, alignment issues means the dash has either been taken apart possibly for whatever reason or accident damage?

Your possibly on the money there, I might try a different glove box from the wreckers..
Ill post a photo of it when I get home, do you know if they have any adjustment? I dont remember seeing any other magnas with a gap like mine has.

Have a look if the top latch of the glovebox has adjustment potential. If not pull the latch out, bend the metal back by hand 1 cm, all fixed! (At least, I hope it is that easy)
