View Full Version : Headlight warning buzzer
Hi,
This has possibly been posted and answered but I'm frazzled and can't find it.
The warning buzzer that sounds when the headlights are on and the engine's off has stopped working.
At the same time, the doors have started to lock themselves after the doors have been opened - even when a door is open.
Any ideas? Are they connected?

Your drivers door open switch needs to be replaced.
Try swapping it with one of the back ones and see how that goes.

Did it work?
I'll get back to you tomorrow. I lost patience with the Magna - decided to discuss the matter with my old friend Mr J Daniels instead.

Haha.
The door switch is literally held in with a screw mate. uplug it and swap with the back door. So piss easy job even when pissed!
Anyway, let me know how it goes.
Mike
All fixed. Thanks Mate. JD held the torch - what a helpful chap!

Put it in the Win Column.
Wicked-my car(2004 ES-TL) has been doing that-will have a go at changing the switches.
-Which seems to have worked a treat!

OK so the buzzer is meant to work on my KL, I was worried it might have been a cost cutting measure by MMA.
I try changing the switches around when the weather down here in Melbourne gets a bit better.
I keep getting out of the car leaving the driving lights on.

Does the BEM turn the headlights off like it does with th boot light if the boot is left open too long?

I played with the switch and it started to work then stopped and the SRS light came on.
I swapped a switch from the old TH and it's working ..... but the SRS light is staying on as well as the check engine light.

That's nothing to do with the headlight switch,
But the wires for the TL/W & KL/W drivers seat airbag are loomed to the wiring for the door switch. They are known to be a little less tolerant of playing around. So moving the wiring plug and pulling on it will cause that SRS light to come on.
You need to get the dealer to clear that from the SRS computer.
Also, check the plug is secure for the airbag just to make sure.

G'day Mike
I have been meaning to write this for weeks.
We are a bit of a Magna family and about 6 months ago the SO picked up a replacement for her TJ which had died.
The replacement is a TL LS and was picked up with a genuine 68,000 :-)
This car is absolutely beautiful with everything in pristine condition.
Anyhow, a week and a half ago she went to work and came out to find a flat battery as she had left the headlights on and there was no warning buzzer/alarm.
RAA was called and problem sorted. To be perfectly honest I wasn't paying the slightest bit of attention when this was related to me and it went in one ear and out the other.
The following week SO starts telling me that the car was a mistake as the doors keep locking and unlocking of their own volition and it is possessed and she now wants to get rid of it .
Well, this time I started to pay a bit more attention but put it down to ....well....women.
The following evening another flat battery due to no headlight alarm. OK time for action.
After her talking about $100's to get it checked by an auto elec, I came in here and had a quick squiz and lo and behold....
As you have said below, 5 minutes, the switch swapped for one in the rear, and problem sorted. Thank you.
This is not the first time (and it won't be the last) that I have been the beneficiary of the knowledge contained in the forum.
I would just like to let it be known that your sharing of your knowledge is appreciated.
Good work! Thanks.

There's nothing at all wrong with posting in an old thread, as it shows you have taken the trouble to search.
Thank you for making the effort and not taking the easy way out by starting a new thread, which can make things more confusing for those seeking a similar remedy later.
