ok.. hope this is a common problem, so someone'll know a fix..

just installed a new head.. dash lights disappeared...

check the fuse.. Most probable reason for this.

When I had my mate install my CD player and speakers, same thing happened except my tail lights didnt work as well, so maybe check yours as well. All up I had no dash lights or tail lights. Dont have the full details of what was wrong but one of the wires was connected to something wrong and that really didnt need to be connected (dimmer maybe? or accessories? something like that).

Tried replacing fuse before we knew it was the cable... fuses just blew. Mate thought about it then pulled the CD player out again and disconnected the wire he thought it was (JVC Player - im sure it was the brown wire). Replaced the fuse then, then everything was fine :D

it sounds like you mistakenly connected the dash dimmer wire to the headunit or you've left it out and its touching something metal and shorting out. Of course this leads to your dash lights fuse blowing out.

I'll get you the color coding of the wire shortly

right, its the Green-White wire. Just find it and tape the contacts so it doesnt touch anything.

if your headlights went aswell then it might be hooked up wrong... i put my headunit in myself and ended up connecting something wrong i forget now(think i had the ground wired up or something stupid like that :doubt: ) the wiring i had to do my self and i kinda rushed into it... but it was easy fixed...
