Did Mitsubishi ever make genuine headlight protectors for the TE-TJs, and if, are they still in stock?

Yes they did, no they are not, the parra ones were also slightly different to non parras, both as far as I know when I checked last were long not available

Thanks Mal, much appreciated. Was hoping to get a genuine set just for convenience. Will try Autobarn etc for a set of aftermarket protectors.

I took them off the other day to clean them. Put them on a ledge. Wind knocked it down. Snapped in half on impact. Fail :(

Couldn't you use super glue to put it back together?

Tried and failed miserably. Ended up putting them back together with sticky tape. Epic fail.

If you only want them for protection then you can always use what I did on my fog lights the Altrex light skins http://www.altrex.com.au/shop.php?cat=154 . I moulded them onto my fog lights and you wouldn't know they are there unless you looked very closely

I've used the Light Skinz on some of my bikes, as well as cars, including the foglights on my TW VRX and 4wd. I recently repaired a broken headlight protector on my 4wd with some too, using an inner and outer layer and it works like new. I tried aftermarket replacements and 2 sets didn't fit, so had to fix it, otherwise it would have been just Light Skinz

I have always made my own headlight protectors -from perspex, moulded to the shape I wanted using a heat gun. I got the perspex given to me and anyway I am a tightarse. When my wife used to take them off to clean them, she normally broke them. She doesn't even wash the car these days anyway. The last time I took the covers off, I dropped one and it broke (it was about 4 years old and rather brittle). I reasoned that since a stone had never broken one, maybe they weren't necessary. WRONG!!! WIfe was driving somewhere and got a chip in one glass. A dab of silastic and it is fine, but for years, I never had one chip or beak other than by our own hands, and then BANG. Maybe they did works after all. I'll have to make up some new ones again.

That's a brilliant idea BergDonk. I'll give it a go!
