A read of this web page shows how advanced the Magna V6 is an will probably remain in the high BMEP range for a lot of years yet

I think mine is 12, not sure if i did the calculation properly though!
Interesting measure of engine efficiency
6G74 is a cracking engine though, such a flexible unit
I'm sitting at between 14-15 ^_^

Obviously it is highly biased towards forced induction lol. Needs to bring in some reliability statistics!

Is this right? 3ltr magna,140kW @ 5500rpm
...... kW x 1200 = 140kw x 1200 = 168000
BMEP = --------------- ----------- = 10.18?
...... litres x rpm = 3 x 5500rpm = 16500

It really is biased to forced induction! A stock vr4 would be nearly 18!

Interesting meassurement. Doing some calculations in excel its appears that peak BMEP occurs when peak torque is produced rather than peak power. So when making 316nm at 4000rpm BMEP is 11.36bar. Infact RPM makes no difference to the figure

Got 10.56 mind you thats a Stock TL AWD

its extremely biased towards forced induction. i got 24.406 based on my cars last dyno run (less power than it has now) 258kwatw = approx 300kw at the motor at 5900 rpm

It is torque divided by litres then divide that by 7.9577 to get BMEP in bar.
(Torque/litres)/7.9577 = BMEP
It is really just a meassure of how much pressure is being produced in the cylinders.
