6000k hid. Had them for 18months and never hassled by the police. Woulsnt recommend going 90w or 130w. The cheaper globes bump up the wattage which stock wiring might not handle without upgrade. Also makes everything extremly warm and could be prone to melting

Given that (and correct me if I'm wrong, Jamie) that Loudz Creations don't sell regular headlight bulbs (only HID kits) I've moved this thread to the Third Gen area.

What's your definition of "best looking"? Something that looks cool, or something with more light? Because with halogen bulbs, it's one or the other. Something like Philips +100 or Osram Nightbreakers if you want more light, or Philips Diamond or Crystal Vision if you want a whiter light.

You could also consider HIDs. They work alright in the parabolic reflectors. They're a white light (depending on the colour temperature you choose) and are quite bright. They're very illegal though, as they're very glarey and dazzling to oncoming motorists. Because they're so bright, they tend to muck up the beam pattern, so they're not that great to drive with. I had a set for a couple of years and never got pulled up for them, but you do it at your own risk. They are also more complicated to wire in than a standard set of bulbs.

Your final option is to consider a projector retrofit from Loudz Creations. It's not cheap, but I did something similar myself to a TJ VR-X and the results were amazing. What Loudz do is graft a new headlight (a "projector" style light) into your existing headlight housing, and hook it up to a HID kit. You get a pure white light (through the HID kit) with a much better light output. The most expensive and complicated option, but worth every penny in my opinion.

Also, running 90 / 130 watt bulbs on the stock wiring is incredibly stupid. The standard wiring is very thin - to the point where upgraded wires and relays will give you more light, even with the stock 55w bulbs.

6000k is actually white with a blue tinge. 4300k is white with a yellow tinge, and 5000k is pure white. I've got 5000k bulbs in my projector retrofit and they're a very precise white. I wouldn't go any bluer. My old HIDs were 6000k+ (see below) and I hated them. High beams were noticeably blue, and I hated driving with them.

A word of warning - many cheaper HID kits have inaccurate colour reproduction. My old bulbs were marked as 4300k but were at least 6000k, and frankly were annoying to drive with. So if you're buying HIDs, at least buy a half-decent kit.

What projectors did you use for the retro fit???

I used the Morimoto Mini H1s. They're available from www.theretrofitsource.com . Forum sponsor Loudz Creations sells them and keeps them in stock locally too.

They are significantly better than what I had previously. At the end of the day, no matter what you do, the standard parabolic reflector is crappy - retrofitting another headlight is the only way to overcome this.

Cheers thanks for that have spoken to Loudz previously but could never justify the expense with it as the house reno's where a priority and still are but will have a look.
