Hay guys

Basically my cars started being wierd with its temprature. 2000 model 3.5l. It's
Started doing this. Temp will hit middle normal operating temprature then the big thermo fan comes on half way like it usually does. But then the temprature will slowly climb with the big thermo fan still on. It will go to around 3 to 4 notches from the H. Then the second little fan comes on and it will cool down to half way again the little fan turns of and the big thermo fan stays on and will slowly climb again and repeat the same process again. I'm thinking mabey thermostat isn't working properly?

Cheers kurt

Sounds like it may be the thermo playing funny buggers..

Can't hurt to give it a look-see..

Yep, could be a dodgy thermostat.

$30 to $40 new from your local stealership and 10 minutes to DIY replace, so might as well do it. Even if it isn't the thermostat they sometimes fail before 100,000k and often fail before 200,000k. You don't want to be caught with a failed thermostat miles from anywhere, so think of it as preventative maintenance.

Was testing the big pipe from the radiator to the thermostat housing. There's hardly any pressure in that pipe it wasn't even hard.?

I also did a Thermostat on the 380 recently, cheapest was genuine, What the???

The magna's is probably cheaper aftermarket, but it wont hurt to give em a call anyway...

Would a thermostat make water circulation struggle? It's as if the main pipes got Hardley any
Water-circulation going through it.

Yep the thermo controls water circulation depending on the temperature of the water.

Having said that I've replaced the thermostat and still have the same problem so when the temp gauge moves I just hit the A/C button to kick the fans into action and keep it cool.

That's exactly the symptom of a stuck thermostat, so yeah.

just an advise to buy genuine only $70 from memory as the Trident mob have an incorrect one on their catalogue. The opening temperature is wrong on the aftermarket ones so you'll be running cold all the time.

Temprature problem fixed. Along the way to fixing the problem I found other problems in my cooling system. Firstly temp sendor to the gauge was faulty and telling me my temp was good when it wasn't it was actually heating up. Then my main thermo fan didn't come on at the right time. Replaced and fixed that. The car was still heating up. Then tonight replaced the radiator BANG fixed it temp stays nice and low. Basically u might have problems with your magna but don't even know it.
