Mums 2.6 TS has an annoying vibration at idle when in Drive, eg, stopped at the lights.

It is had a good motor put in it (I put it in) at first it was really bad but I've changed the mounts, and it has certainly improved but not 100%.

The idle is at 750 when in gear. For interests sake I manually wound the idle up and it almost disappeared, but this isn't ideal at 1000 rpm.

So what can I do to stop it, at first it didn't bother me but its such a good car apart from it.

My TS is 2.6 is the same, you feel like you want to put it in neutral as soon as you have to stop, its like its labouring too hard when in gear with your foot on the brake, my KH is isn't like it at all, very soomth in gear when stopped. I think it has something to do with the transmission but I'm not sure. I have thought of putting the idle up to 1000 rpm to stop the vibration as well as the timing chain rattle.

Hmm, surely they can't of come out of the factory like this?

has the chain stretched slightly and the counterbalance shaft is now running slightly out of balance?

There is no chain rattling at all, not even at cold startup. Car runs faultlessly, the motor I put in it had just over 120000 on the clock and had recently had the chain replaced.

Mines the same, fixed with slightly higher idle.

Although I've been thinking about removing the balance shafts to see what effect that would have.

Anyone with a 4 pot manual have the same vibration or is this only auto related?

how do you raise the revs at idle? is it much of a job to do?

The Colt has the same problem. Steering column is particularly bad. I've tried the idle speed but it seems to be doing 1200-1400 rpm before it stops vibrating :/
